Quiet with few people. Lots of places to explore nearby. Clean restrooms. It rained the first night creating mosquitoes. Bring your repellent and thermacell.

The Idyllwild Nature Center was fun to visit and there are many trails to hike. We took the summit trail (with kids and a dog) and it was lovely with some amazing views.

This place is perfect for a little camping get away from the city. Its far enough to see the stars and not cars. The campground is fair clean. It depends on the campers before how it is left for the next group. But when we got there our camp site was clean. There is no showers and no lakes around (there might be but we couldnt find one> at least during summer, dry season). The one thing I really hated was the bathrooms and the amount of flies/mosquitos at this place. Advice: keep your food covered and your tent close when not using because if not, mosquitos/flies can get inside. But hey, thats camping. Camping is not a 5 star hotel with ac... camping is nature and bugs and being cold and hot and maybe a little uncomfortable because youre not use to it. So, this is a great place to spend your weekend away from the city.

The Fern Basin campground was a clean, quiet, and well shaded camping location. The bathrooms are drop toilets and mid-day did have a few fly's but were generally clean with plenty of toilet paper. The individual camp sites vary in size and distance from assigned parking location; however, each site has a fire ring and picnic table. I used this camp site to hike the Marion Mountain Trail to the peak of San Jacinto and this only added a short distance to the trail head. There is no service for TMobile in the camp ground itself but there was service in town if you need to check up on things. Idylwild is approximately 15 minutes away and there are plenty of places to purchase ice, food/drinks, and fire wood. Overall the campground was well kept and shaded. I will certainly camp here again.

The campground was actually in good shape. There was no running water like I was lead to beleive for swimming or fishing. Mosquitos were everywhere and they love me. The ranger was helpful but she could not give me any info about why someone had told me there was swimming near by. The restrooms were clean and spacious.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
