What a great campground ! The hosts were fantastic, so friendly and helpful! Bob and Kathy are the best and Hugh was great. Our site was perfect, lots of space all around us. A water pump near us, a great table and fire ring and food box. The trees were beautiful and the mountain jays were everywhere singing and just looking beautiful! We absolutely loved this camp and plan on returning again in our travels! During the week was the best, we almost had the loop to ourselves, weekend was full but everyone was respectful during quiet hours! Grinnell loop space 37! Only complaint would be the posts throughout the park that are used to outline the road and the site spaces really do get in the way!!! Also need some gravel fill in on the corner leading out of Grinnell loop, it's several inches of a drop off that needs filling in. I also saw some water pumps leaking pretty bad which is a huge waste of water!

Mid-week is the best. No one there and so quiet. Just like I love it. Bob and Kathy are great camp hosts and always have time for a chat.

We have been camping at Heart Bar Campground for over 40 years, I think the fee was $3 on the honor system. What I think needs to be told is the amazing job the host of 4 years (Cathy and Bob) are doing with this campground. They are the best, caring for the grounds and their personal attention they give the campers. This little area is maintained like they would keep their own place. Their hard work allows for our perfect getaway, just walk the loops and see the how beautiful the grounds look. We thank these hard working host. Bob told us that a good smelling bathroom (outhouse) is not always the cleanest bathroom (outhouse), need I say more, lol. Just love these two.

Beautiful campground that is well maintained. Large camp sites with nice space between so you don't feel crowded. Good hiking nearby and close proximity to Big Bear if you want more activities. Its our new favorite spot for a near-by escape from the summer heat.

Very quiet in October. Almost had the place to ourselves. Campground very clean and well kept. The road and trail to the aspen grove opened up the day we arrived. Good to see new growth happening. Such a tragedy. Will take years to renew itself. Hiked down to the meadow south of the campground. Only complaint is the pit toilets with no lighting at night. Last I checked we were in the 21st century, but not even solar lighting in the restroom? Must be a really powerful flashlight lobby in Washington these days. Overall, it's our new favorite local campground. 4 1/2 stars!!
