I have been coming to this Boulder Camp site since 1987 in May or June almost every year, except when snowed in or during the covid pandemic. I enjoy it a huge amount.I feel the 8 vehicle limit in parking is far too restrictive as they start charging for additional vehicles after 8.Another concern for me is that they have not been fully maintaining the toilet area for the past few years. The toilet seat was broken for over a year about 10 years ago on the right side bolt and I repaired it with my drill installing 2 screws. Now for the past few years maybe longer, the solar toilet fan that sucks the stink out which reduces flies has been broken. The Ladies are super disappointed about this!! Also the front 3/4's of the toilet base where it is screwed to the concreate has disconnected and can move up as much as an inch. The sealant is completely gone except for the back 1/4, so stink come out from there to. It can rock back and forth from the concrete at times. The Ladies HATE this as well !! Now I bring two cans of deoterizer when renting this site. PLEASE FIX THESE THING ASAP. When I first started renting this site it was $13 a night. Now $145 plus fees. We deserve these basic maintenance issues to be RESOLVED !! I know Ladies that said they will never come back because of these bathroom issues. Personally I can deal with them being a guy that camps in the middle of the dessert when riding dirt bikes, quads, and ATV's. I like the bear lockers they installed in the past 7 years or so, USE THEM. Or the bears will get in to your food!!A great spot for hiking just east of the camp. And a great mountain bike trail that goes for miles just to the west of the camp. I also love the large campfire ring, the additional tables they added this past year, and the huge BBQ this spot has. If not for the bathroom area issue I would have given it a 5 star. NOTE: If the ladies where rating this they would give a 3 star max, because of the toilet issues !!

Wonderful group camp site. Lots of shade, large rocks and even a view of the lake if you hike to the back. Saw very few other people. Multiple tables, a charcoal grill and firepit available. Had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back!

No water is available.
But the site keeps privacy.

If you don't mind a little rusticness (i.e., pit toilets), then this is a great campsite, especially for larger groups. You have complete isolation, so no need to worry about disturbing other campers. Reasonably close to Big Bear if you need provisions or want to go to a restaurant. Plenty of hiking and biking trails around the campsite. Road to the site is a little rough, so make sure you bring a car that can handle it.
