This was a great campground with nice bathrooms. Beautiful views of the mountains all around you, and a sunset if you are lucky!! I love this campground because it automatically gets you into the bear lake area without needing timed entry.

As explicitly stated on the Park website, this campsite area has no shade. On a summer afternoon in mid-August this means oppressive high altitude heat, so go hang out at Sprague Lake if you need to. Apart from that, you are surrounded by mountains; the restrooms are super convenient to this campsite and super clean, and yes there are rustic shower facilities (but they are not lit at night). There was a four-hour-long thunderstorm with hail the night we camped and we were glad to have a room in Estes Park the next night. The park host told us it had been hailing earlier in the week. This was in August. Best to get waterproof spray for your tent if its old! We walked to the Bear Lake shuttle park and ride, but if you need to check out at noon you can always break camp and drive your car the 1-minute drive over to the park and ride lot. Overall a good time.

This campground has the best views of the Rocky Mountains. The campground was beautiful, clean and well maintained. It was the best camping experience I've ever had.

Stunning views from this campsite. Bathrooms were good, dishes sink was super helpful. Little free library in by the ranger station. Bus service out of the front of the campground. Added bonus is that all the campers here automatically get passes for the Bear Lake Corrider part of the park, as the campground is past the check in station. A few downsides - the sites here are more cramped together than Morraine Park down the street (but you can pull right up to all of them) and the amphitheater for the ranger programs is located in the other campsite at Morraine Park about 10 minutes away.
