Don't miss the Park Rangers talks - 8:30 each weekend evening at the outdoor amphitheater.

Check in was smooth. The site has just enough tree growth to give you the feeling of being a little secluded and more private than tent camping in the middle of a bare field. As always the views and wildlife of Rocky Mountain National Park are breathtakingly beautiful.

Overall nice campground. Views were amazing and we had a few elk visit the entrance area in the evening. Many spots have limited shade so we recommend bringing a pop up canopy. Most sites have a bear box but ours did not...not a big deal we used the car. Campground says there is firewood for sale in the summer but we camped on a Wednesday evening and were told this just happened to be "the only day this week" where firewood was not available. We were able to bum some off another camper but we recommend just buying some firewood from a store in Estes before you arrive instead. Restrooms were immaculate for a campground and had flushing toilets, multiple sinks, and a kitchen sink where you could rinse off your pots. What a treat. If you have a novice camper in your group worried about bathrooms this is a good choice. The campground is private but is close enough to the park and ride where we could hear the beeping of the shuttle busses in the morning. That was annoying however if you are planning to hike this is a great choice. You can walk across the street to the bus pickup or start hiking directly from the campground. This access is probabaly the biggest benefit of this campground as it is the closest campground to rocky's best hikes. It was disappointing to see the campground mostly empty due to the rediculus covid restrictions in the park but hopefully it returns to full soon and we would absolutely consider returning (with our own firewood and plans to be up early to hike).
A bit disappointed by campers who had clogged toilet [across from site C-79] and mess left in the men's bathroom. Generally well maintained and campers were respectfully low volume...Beautiful evening despite smoke from the wild fires...which politely stayed to the north until I left the next day when Long's Peak was in the haze and the valley was in smoke....Still, beautiful and enjoyable as always. Thanks so much for what you do!!!

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
