I have been going to this lake for over 40 years. Love the campgrounds, fishing, biking, and hiking. This year having no water made it a bit of a challenge but we survived and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The last few years we have had a large family reunion and this campground was perfect for our gathering.
My only disappointment was that we had bear in our campsites every night as well as did others in the campground. I know bear are up here. We always have them every year but this year it was particularly bad. We put away all of our food and know what needs to be done to deter their visit. Not all of the sites have bear boxes so we hope to have those next year. My deepest concern is that the bear are not afraid of people at all. Even with no food out they roam the sites and are not the least bit concerned when we yell, honk horns, or make lots of noise. I would hate to have to wait until someone gets hurt before something is done to protect the campers (especially small children) from the bear. Please consider some of the comments I have expressed. I spoke to many other campers this year that expressed the same concerns. It seems that this year is one of the worst that I have personally experienced.
