Lovely campground, quiet and shady, walking distance to the lake, host was kind and helpful

It rained a ton so this hindered our experience a bit. Campsite 3 is very hilly and walk up from parking spot, be prepared to haul everything a good 50 feet. Only good for 1-2 person tents only, no flat ground. It does have great shade & access to hiking straight uphill, also more hidden from the road. Campground is beautiful, short walk to lake, decent bathroom.

This site is good BUT it's really only for campers with small tents because there aren't any good spots for a large, family size tent unless you set it up in the grass between the parking lot and the actual camp site. If you do that you're close to the road but the area isn't super noisy if that's you're only option. Otherwise May Queen is a nice campground.

Site 3 is up in the trees and you can't see the road very well. The campsites across the road are pretty exposed so we were thankful of the uphill position. Campsites 2 and 4 are pretty close. Fire ring and grill were clean. Not many level areas to pitch a tent though! Reservoir was low which was pretty cool, you could see evidence of old mining activity and other artifacts. Not many good places to fish!

It’s not a very good tent site, no even ground. Not even sure if hammocks would work.
