As usual, my Labor Day stay at Sylvania was wonderful. Such a beautiful place. Campers do need to know that the showers in the day use area do not work, and the flushies in loop 4 are closed due to an electrical issue. There is no expected date for the repairs to be completed.

We stayed in Site #46, setup a 25' travel trailer, 10x13' screen house and a Haven Tent Hammock between the trees in the back of the campsite. Right next to the bathrooms that were kept very clean by the campground hosts. The bathrooms had flush toilets and running water sinks. The shower house at the beach area has been closed and will be closed until further notice - seems to be short of help for that cleaning process. We got our canoe on Lake Katherine - we were the only people there for 2 days, paddled Clark Lake all the way south, hiked to Loon Lake, then the next day we launched at Crooked Lake, portaged to High Lake and we were the only people there also. A really quiet area that we enjoyed - only small drawback was the little black sand flies - so glad that I packed my screen house right before I left home - thought it would be early enough in the year for no bugs but those little guys were sure plentiful. Started a Thermocell repellent on a small table between the screen house and the trailer - first time I ever used one of those and it worked excellent - totally cleared the bugs from the open area. Head nets made being outside more bearable if outside the screen tent. We drove to Bond Falls on a rainy day - well worth the trip - have lunch at Syl's Cafe in Ontonogan - wonderful food!!!!

You need to open up the showers.

Well kept campground. Nice public access swimming area. Very quiet during mid week stay.

Absolutely loved the whole area. Great area to canoe/kayak. Waterfalls. Nice back wood roads to ride in our Jeep. Felt like you were all be yourself.

Very rustic & clean campground. Come prepared with mosquito repellents!
