This was our first time to Sylvania to camp and it truly was beautiful. It rained 4 of the 6 days and the mosquitoes were voracious, but that is Mother Nature for you! It was very sad to see the entrance office unattended as that is always such a welcome. And not having the showers open was a bummer. Hoping our next trip will find both of these facilities open. Thank you.

If you're going to fish, it's the best there is. If you want a quiet place to kayak or canoe, it's great. Some days we were practically the only people on the lakes. The downsides are: the mosquitoes are terrible. And I mean, really really bad. Also, the shower house is not open. So we basically went 10 days cleaning up with baby wipes. It's a beautiful place, but there are drawbacks. This was our third trip. And Bill, the campground host, is great!

Campground was decent. No showers but priced right. The camp host is a piece of work and IMHO, is in way over his head. Has a terrible attitude and made numerous comments that were really off-base including one about us being in "HIS" campground or parking on "MY GRASS". I hated to say anything because it may be a program the USFS is running to employ the disadvantaged or something. We (seniors all 65+) were there for one night while motorcycle touring and he is a big guy who came rolling into our site draped all over a mini-bike. Picture it. Kind made us all think of the movie "Dumb and Dumber" mini-bike scene and then did the "Hey, I am the Camp Host and this is my campground and these are my rules and I am the Sheriff here." We did have 5 solo tents and the rule is only 3 tents, so we were over and clearly needed the sheriff to straighten us out. We said fine, and we would just pay, no issues at all. Most places don't worry when they see the tiny tents compared to the normal cabin tents, but a rule is a rule and this guy was on it in "his" campground. Then he tried to over charge us which we corrected. Gotta love the Senior Pass half off rate. It was all good and it did give us a few laughs each time he rode passed checking on us big, bad, older than dirt bikers on 650cc adventure bikes. We would stay they again and enjoy the show one more time. :-)

Water was noted to be available at the camp ground. How ever, the water was unable to be connected to the RV. We needed to use the dunk station which required a 5 dollar charge.

Wish it was open till Oct 15th. We were there for a week and liked everything. Great camp host, clean bathrooms, great camping sites...trails were spectacular. More and more people came the last few days it was open. I dare anyone to find a more beautiful, quiet, fall place to camp. Natures colors are truly magnificent in Sylvania.
