Stayed in the non generator area. The sites there are dirt and have large ruts from rain runoff. There is a shower, which I appreciated. However, the spray from the fixed nozzle mostly wets the wall. A nice nature trail loops around the campground, and If you have high clearance vehicle, there are a couple good trails worth taking. No T-Mobile service, but if you drive toward Ajo to the (unmanned) checkpoint area, you can get service near there without driving all the way to Ajo.

Great spot. The plant cover is great and makes you feel like youre not in the middle of a camp ground. Facilities were clean and maintained well!

This campground is a great place to view some of the desert southwest's common bird species. I especially enjoying seeing the Gila woodpecker on the saguaro and organ pipe cacti. Great hiking opportunities start at the campground itself and lead to old mine sites. This January was very green, and I counted some dozen blooming species of plants. A Park Service wayside exhibit quoted a Saudi Arabian prince as saying something to the effect that this wasn't a desert but rather a garden. Indeed.Good water makes this an easy place to camp, too. The generator policy that has them shut down at 6:00pm keeps things nice and quiet for those seeking that aspect of camping. Great night sky opportunities, as well. One downside is the loud noise from traffic on nearby AZ85. It starts around 6 in the morning and continues until the border shuts at 8pm. Truck traffic from Mexico was sometimes noticeable. One loud sonic boom from the nearby Air Force facilities caused me some minor discomfort while hiking.Overall, I had a great time here and would go back again. I spent four nights and had plenty to do.

Bathrooms were extremely clean, campground was clean. I didnt see one ranger all night and no one came to check on my permit, but everything else was great. I would go back again.

Wife got bit by a scorpion. Loved the desert view and hike. Seen a jack rabbit and coyote. Visitors center was nice and was helpful.

Beautiful campground in a gorgeous setting. Clean and tidy bathrooms, garbage disposal cans, parking. I love the way that it's laid out, so as to minimize cars driving by. It's a clever beehive layout. "The nicest campground I've ever been to," said my traveling companion.

Very cold at night. Surprised no fires allowed. It rained. So it wasn’t a dry spell.

Only half the restrooms open is not cool. Part of why we pay the rate is to have easy access to clean toilets. Reduce the rate if half the bathrooms are unavailable.

On a positive note - VERY CLEAN CAMPGROUND!!
