Really neat remote desert campground with nicely kept sites. Bathrooms are reasonably nice and convenient, with one important caveat: Showers are solar heated only, so must take in heat of the day (for winter, anyway)! Do hikes and attend ranger programs. Loved the different to us environment and experience here. Really dark campground, so better plan to get there in daylight to have an easier time finding your site and way around.

Beautiful, peaceful, isolated campground

Major Issues

Despite most of the campsites being closed and empty. The NPS decided to close the one restroom in my area and didnt post anything. No warning no alternatives, nothing. This is not a Recreation gov problem, its a park service problem.

The layout of this campground with sites packed into a drivable perimeter looks like it was designed by border security. Despite that, there was more vegetation that expected in a desert between sites. Beautiful views all around marred only by the border wall cresting a hill. Solar showers worked well in the afternoon. Insufficient recycling facilities.

Had a very friendly ranger guide me through the registration process. Had 3 owl species sing to me during the night.

As a family of tenters, we found the sites are excellent, bathroom facilities clean. This is a very special place in North America, we consider ourselves fortunate to have stayed and explored. Words and photos cannot describe the experience.

We camped in our tent for 3 nights. We camped on the no generator area. Well prepared tent pads, surrounded by lumber, made it easy to set up our small tent. Might be complicated for larger tents. Surrounded by the desert, with beautiful views and trails. Can be very windy though! Great campground, beautiful location. Showers on solar, might be cold or hot. Lots of potable water outlets.

Beautiful views but no privacy campsites right on top of one another.

Site was clean, had a picnic table, had a tent pad for pitching your tent, and the campground itself was very close to several hiking trail heads. There were restrooms with toilets that flushed. A shower was available in the restroom, but we did not take advantage of that. Some sited did have a shaded pavilion, so make sure to grab one if thats something youll need. Great camping experience for what we were looking for!
