This is a beautiful jewel in The Gorge that is at your fingertips if so many things to do. Its fairly quiet with the exception of trains now and then, but I love the sound of trains. The grounds are wonderfully kept by the camp hosts and respectful campers. A nice view of the backside of the dam and lit up at night, its fun to watch the river traffic go by, and fun to draw the attention in the sternwheeler and get passengers to wave. My real fascination is all the stone work from the 30s, so beautiful. I would love to see it uncovered to show off a little more of its glory. The camp hosts are exceptional, and so helpful and knowledgeable when there are questions, I give them an A+. So if you are thinking of going here, do it!! Walk around the grounds, be peaceful with nature, and explore the area.

Peaceful, beautiful Overlook has been a family tradition for picnic reunions since mid century.
With the water, power, and restrooms restored, it's even better than before.
Friendly and helpful park rangers always come through for us.
An excellent group gathering spot that's off the public radar.

Great location. Kind and thoughtful host, lots of area to spread out, pavilion, electricity, flushing toilets, great views. We love this place!

The only thing I didn't care for was the fact that strangers just walked up the trail into our camp. I think more signs need to be posted stating that you are not allowed entrance without reservation.

Nancy the camp host is truly the "hostess with the mostess". She goes above and beyond, even anticipating what our needs and wishes might be. She is full of suggestions and information and knowledge.
The setting is so beautiful, and so absolutely comfortable, for relaxing, sightseeing, hiking, fishing, kayaking, exploring town, etc., etc. And a great covered and inside pavilion with fireplace if it's cold or rainy. So much room, and very special spots to tent or RV. I love this place.

This is a favorite spot, so happy itโ€™s here to use! This place has seen some good infrastructure improvements lately. As always, Look out for poison oak! Most camping areas are cleared, but the surrounding slopes and underbrush (where the dogs like to explore) are a minor hazard.

Fantastic spot. If traffic/train noise bothers you do not use this site as the sounds can be heard throughout the site. Very clean facilities and we love the updated bathrooms. We will be going back!

The site is beautiful and perfect for a large group, especially for a family reunion or similar event. Big negative is the noise from the highway and the train, definitely recommend bringing ear plugs if you are sleeping in a tent. The camp host is very nice, but I am not used to having a camp host at a group site and thought it was a little odd as usually you reserve a group site for privacy. Also lots of random people walking through even when the gates are locked. Overall though would definitely recommend if you were looking for something close to the metro to accommodate a lot of people.
