The cabin is dark so bring plenty of lighting. Oven worked fine for baking a b'day cake. A great historic structure that the nation should use as example to build more and invite families that appreciate authenticity.

Such a nice cabin to stay at -so cozy and warm and indoor bathroom! We stayed January 27 and 28th it rained most of the time but, we had taken a rain gear so we were ready to do some serious hiking. Tried to make it up to Lena Lake but, the trail was nothing but a river so we had to turn back after 2 miles. The cabin has such good character and is toasty with a propane fireplace. The propane lights gave enough light to get tasks done. There was plenty of room in the front room to bring in the card table to play games near the fireplace.Loved all the notebooks that have been written over the last 30 years of people staying there. Its a great family cabin to stay at to get your kids away from all the technology. No electricity or running water worth all the effort to bring extra lanterns and water. It would be advisable to bring a CO2 detector because there was only one working in the entire cabin. The hiking trail that starts at the cabin does a complete circle 1.5 miles is great to go walking to get to know the flora. It is an easy hike, so everyone should go on itDefinitely will be going back

It's a very nice cabin. The main room with the fire place is so great to hang out in. I always leave the windows cracked because the lamps will give me a headache. It's a lot of propane to be burning indoors. Be sure to turn those lamps off tightly when you go to sleep at night. The place has mice and you have to count on cleaning and being careful, but we've been there a few times and have never seen any signs of mouse activity. The trail from the cabin is a long circle that goes first down the creek to the Hamma Hamma River, then up River to the hamma Hamma campground. From the campground it goes up the hill on a slightly strenuous hike back to the cabin. There are several spots along the Little Creek to stop and hang out and enjoy a very beautiful setting. Driving up the road to the Lena lake trailhead or just to the place where the road ends gives you really nice places to hike and see views. Back at highway 101. There's a great place to get oysters or to eat dinner at the hamma Hamma oyster company.

Loved this cabin! I can see why its always booked! The flush toilet alone makes the whole cabin experience so much better. My teens and I spent one night there and we enjoyed a hike/walk around the day we arrived and another the morning we left. The kitchen is well supplied with dishes and cooking implements. The propane lamps give out heat which was good because the fireplace didnt work. The windows in the living room are amazing-make me want to sit in there all day. We had previously been to the Interrorum (?) cabin so we knew to bring plenty of water and disposable dishes with us. Beds were okaywe are going back in January for 2 nights-I hope the heating is fixed by then.

We love the cabin and always try to leave it better than we found it. People are very respectful and left it nice for us too. It sometimes has mice and it's definitely haunted. I heard the footsteps myself in the main room w the fireplace. It's a lovely place though and be sure to bring potable water.

Spent just one night here, with our some and DIL after a fun banjo fest at Hama Hama, and boy, do I wish we could have stayed longer! Trails to explore all around, and a great cabin for hanging out with family and playing cards by lantern light. If we can snag a whole week sometime, I really want to come and spend some quality time!

Been going to the cabin for 28 years. Always nice! With one exception - the roof is in dire need of repair (I have noted the poor roof condition before). Its current state of the shakes being dried out, curled, broken, branches and other forest matter all over it - it's a fire hazard - ready to go with one spark. That's why we did not have a campfire. If the forest service is not going to maintain the shake roof (and they don't). Spend the funds and put a metal roof on it!

Several of our party members complained about odors from the propane lights in the kitchen and dining area. The lights did not cause any alarms. There were no signs of mice. We used the spray repellant daily.

What a beautiful and serene getaway this was. The cabin is stocked with just about everything you can think of, and the fireplace in the living room was perfect to do puzzles and board games by into the evening. We got a break in the rain and were able to have a fire. This place is incredible.

Bring your own lamps if you want it a little brighter at night. It's very cosy and quaint but it can be really dim with the propane lights, so a couple extra lamps helped a lot.

It is a lovely cabin and well stocked with essential kitchen stuff. The gas stove worked fine, but the gas fireplace didn't work and the mantels in the lights, well, the gas smell was just horribly overpowering so we used our headlamps. We want to go back in October but it is just too cold without any heat. We're seniors and the best of our camping days are done. There are a lot of games and interesting historical books. The situation with the gas made me nervous tho. The refrigerator is ancient and we didn't even try to use it, we just brought in our cooler. Supposedly there is a mouse problem but we never saw any. All in all this cabin is a hidden treasure with a flushing toilet, but no potable water. The gas situation....I'm just not sure that issue is safe. It needs addressing.

The cabin was quite clean and tidy when we arrived. There were no mice droppings visible. There was a bottle of a mouse repellant spray on the kitchen counter, which we used as directed. There was no evidence of mice during our entire stay. It would be helpful to know what is in the repellant, and if it is harmful to humans. It would also be helpful if the door lock could be de-activated during the daytime.

Cabin is gorgeous and well furnished. Be advised that the propane heater mainly only heats the central room, so the rest of the building can get chilly at night. I found the futon in the central room a more comfortable mattress than the bunk beds, in addition to being next to the heater. Bringing our own electric lanterns was also a good idea, since the propane lights don't light up every room perfectly.

I love this cabin more than words can express and have stayed here several times in the past 2 years. Mice have always been a problem here but nothing I couldn't handle but that has definitely changed since my last visit. Apart from the usual nocturnal noises and droppings everywhere this time one proceeded to run over me in bed as I was about to fall asleep and another decided he wanted to hitch a ride home with me as I noticed when driving down the highway at 55 mph he popped his head up between the hood and the windshield!!

I really liked this cabin despite some of difficulties with me accidentally turning the heat off and having to figure out how to restart it. Also, people need to be respectful of the rules as I spent at least an hour or so cleaning up dog hair off several areas. Pets are not allowed and this is on the information everywhere.
