Great spot backing up to woods! Had plenty of space for our rather large tent and was flat ground. There is crushed gravel on the ground at most sites which is nice to control mud but not the most comfortable if you sleep on the ground without a pad or cot. We loved waking up to seeing deer in the trees behind us. The campfire area had an adjustable height grill which was very helpful.

We had such a wonderful time that we stayed an extra day! So many memories made! We're making this an annual trip!

Great fun. I we enjoyed it very much. I have been coming to this campground since I was a little girl. I am 67 now. Lol Thank you.

Love the camp site. Every year to go to the same camping ground and it's always so beautiful especially my kids love going their. So much to do.

Great nature and water. Call ahead of time to inquire about the bathrooms and their "maintenance" schedule.

It was nice the first day then the following day it got way too crowded. The campers around didn't respect your campsite and just walk through it and mess with things and being loud and dealing with people who are drinking when they can't drink in this time of year. I'm sure anytime besides the summertime camping in this area is completely fine, but summertime do not recommend

The campground was great except there was only June mens bathroom working - being the 4th of July week and weekend this made it not great otherwise - if they fix that problem we really like it there. Swimming in the cold springs was just across the road - we could walk there - made swimming alot easier with the kids and adults.

It will be good if the camping spaces would have water hose we have to walk long distance just to get water to wash my dishes overall everything was good

Everything was nice and clean. The only issue would be that they did not have showers. I guess I didnt notice that at booking, so its my fault. But adding showers would really make a huge difference in the experience. Especially since there are so many campers there to swim and enjoy the outdoors. Its just a little overwhelming in the heat to not be able to shower after a long day outdoors. The campground was great though. We had a lot of fun.

Clean and the Rangers are great. Had a problem with a family who let their 12 year old son steal and destroy property. Shame on the whole family. You know who you are. POS

Loved the stay! The only bad is that it does not have showers. But the kids loved it and we had a good time!

Bathrooms were good and sites very clean. Site 21 does have a trail right next to it, so it might feel like people are hiking right through, but it wasn't much traffic. We will definitely be back.

The river area is wonderful, but in the camping area there are many fleas and ticks. They bit a nephew and me. They need to have more pest control!
@AaronM4160322 · Camped on May 23, 2025 at Campsite #34
The campsites are well maintained. We had site 34, and it was right by the river, and we could just walk over and swim right there. The place is beautiful with a nice hiking trail nearby and a nature center on the hike with some cool things in there. I highly recommend.

Lots of trees and peaceful location. Sites near the main road have road noise which may be distracting. But then also have the sound of the stream.No electricity or water at the campsites. There are potable water spigots within a 100 feet or so of each campsite. It is not as fresh tasting as what I'm used to, but does the job. There are NO showers at this campgrounds, but the restroom had multiple stalls and running water which were clean and refilled while I was there.

First day at camp someone set the dumpster on fire, we reported the fire. Second night at camp someone took our campsite set up a tent, started a fire (even though our site was reserved and had decoration on the site.) The next morning (3 am) we could hear arguing (over our sound machine, in a closed up van) from the group who had been in our site. The next morning they were shouting profanities and playing loud music. We told the camp host about the previous nights experience to which we were told to call 911 if theres ever a problem. They said they would talk to them which made us uncomfortable for fear of reprisals..We have camped at this recreation area for years but a different campground without any issues. This was just a bad weekend for camping.

My wife and I have been going to Chickasaw Recreational Area for over 50 years. (Started back when it was Platt National Park) Our three children also grew up going to the park. Although the park is just a few blocks out of town, the minute you enter the park you feel you are miles away. The campsites in each of the campgrounds are wooded and spaced well apart. There is no electricity or sewer hookups in the old part but there are hookups at the newer Buckhorn Park and Arbuckle Lake South of the older park area. There are clean flushing restrooms, no showers, and water hydrants in the older campgrounds. Our favorite campground was Rock Creek which is now closed. Cold Springs Campground is now open year round. It is right across the street from Rock Creek swimming holes. We love campsites 20, 21, 22. The camp hosts, Ron and Anne are the nicest couple and helpful with anything you may need. They will be truly missed now that they are retiring this year. Ranger Ashley is also fantastic. You will want to check out the Nature Center, the interpretative Ranger programs, the nature trails behind the Nature Center going to the two springs that feed Rock Creek, Little Niagara, Bromide Hill trail, Veterans Lake, the Bison overlook, swim in the cold year round spring fed Rock Creek water, or swim at Arbuckle Lake. There is so much to do at the park. Spend all day hiking, biking, swimming and return to your campground with a nice fire and enjoy the deer, birds, raccoons, and other wildlife right at your campsite. There is also a five mile hiking, biking, equestrian trail that goes through beautiful secluded park land with rolling hills and creeks from Veterans Lake to the newer Buckhorn area. Also the Chickasaw Cultural Center just outside of the park is well worth visiting to see Indian artifacts, history, and replica village. My wife and I just spent 4 nights with our now grown kids and their families and again had a wonderful time as we have had for over 50 years now.

Awesome environment and volunteers/staffGot to see plenty of deer and wild life. I went in off season (December) and had a wonderful night listening to rain on the tent.

Although mine was a short overnight stay, it was memorable. A short hike surrounded by curious deer in the cool clear night. A warm fire and breakfast in the crisp morning air. Well maintained facilities and organized campsites made for a pleasant outing. The surrounding grounds offer peace and tranquility.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
