Beautiful park. We were just passing through one night on our way to Texas, but we were really impressed with the campground. Really beautiful park. Nice campsite and easy early evening hike down to the lake.

While the tent campsites all appeared to be level, few if any of the RV sites were level and our RV spot in the Buckhorn campground certainly was not. Bring your jack pads, boards, Andersen blocks, or whatever you need and be prepared to spend some time.

Spent 3 days here in site 60 which is paved, with water and 50 amp electric. Driveway is short, but double wide. However it slopes down severally. We did fit our 30 foot travel trailer, but there was less than 6 inch clearance to the bottom of the hitch once we leveled the trailer. Site is not on the water but there is a trail down to the water from the campsite. Very pretty area if you like lots of forest. Nice big clean lake. Enjoyed kayaking, hiking and the bike trails. Restroom/showers are some of the cleanest and nicest we have been to. There is a nature center about 6 miles away with a spring fed creek that is worth a visit. Very quiet during the week in mid September.

Beautiful area, site was great, facilities were quite adequate, the weather okay but less than great due to rain. Quiet, clean and comfortable. No T-Mobile signal at site but, there was signal once out to the road. Got dark really early too.

Buckhorn Campgrounds and bathrooms are always clean. The swimming area is small. They do not have any sort of seating in the swimming area so make sure you bring chairs and such unless you want to sit on the grass. We spent most of our time in town at the cold springs swimming.

Peaceful, quiet experience. Loved just sitting and listening and watching the birds.

Beautiful Park! We loved our trail hike trail 1 and trail 4. We hunted all our down fall wood and enjoyed being in and interacting with the woods and fishing. Thank you!

We were totally unfamiliar with the Chickasaw National Rec Area. So when the direction took us to the visitors center (remember, driving a large rig here) we couldn't just stop and park so we continued on. I quickly pulled our reservation and typed in Buckhorn. Much to my surprise it was a "known" destination. I just wonder with all the emails sent prior to the trip something couldn't have been said about the direction. Here we were probably 8 miles away from what looked to be an interesting area that would have been nice to be able to explore. Here again, we knew nothing of the area and what was available. Buckhorn itself was pretty, hilly and the site seemed to be nice, at least ours was. However, where are the trails? There was one noted on a map but we never found it. I think you had to traverse down a busy road. Great idea if you have kids on bikes huh? Would we come back? No. We were disappointed. The only walks we took were around the Buckhorn sites and the lake. Not enough to keep you busy and challenged.

Campsite was clean and in good shape. Both electricity and water were fully functional. Met one of the game wardens and he was extremely nice and helpful on giving us hiking trail directions

Beautiful and very well maintained well spaced camp site with plenty of area to explore. During our last visit, they had the men's side of the comfort stations closed with a sign indicating to use the unisex bathroom and shower instead. Unfortunately, these unisex areas are single user and while I really didn't have too much trouble with this, there were a couple instances where I had to wait for someone to get done prior to being able to utilize the facilities. The women's area was open at both comfort stations.
