We loved the site we stayed in for a good view of the water and distance from other sites. The pictures depicting our site was pretty much true to reality. The water pressure was really forceful; be sure your regulator is in good working order. All sites are pretty well spaced from others, so this campground in our opinion is well designed and comfortable for the campers. It was very quiet at night, and dark skies for star watching. We came in on a spring break weekend. There were lots of kids and families; very busy. Very friendly. It was so nice to see the families felt safe letting their kids ride and walk around the campground all day and into the evening, yet, no one ever intruded on our site. It felt safe and peaceful, though lively. The volunteers were visible, friendly, and helpful. The bathrooms were a bit disappointing, but to be fair, they were probably blown out with high use. Also, the design where the shower essentially blends into the toilet area with no separation is problematic. The floor to the toilet area was wet, constantly, from shower overflow. The only odd experience we had was on Saturday night. There were a couple of families camped near to one another who were pretty loud after quiet hours, not with music, but with kid noise. Someone on the hills outside the park started shooting! We wondered if they'd had enough of the noise and did this to send a "quiet down!" message. Well, if so, it worked; they got quiet, after about 6 gunshots. So, maybe staff should do a little better job of enforcing quiet hours? We loved the lake and the land and visiting Ponca City was a treat; nice museums, good restaurants. We'll definitely be back for another stay.

We stayed at Coon Creek on July 21-24, 2024.PROS: We were in Coon Creek Site 035 with a nice view of the lake especially as the sun rises and reflects off the water. Spacious site allowed us to set up Gazelle gazebo for our twin 14 y/o grandsons to use during our stay. The fire pit was good as well as the picnic table. Water pressure was adequate.CONS: There was a washout along the width of the site entrance that made it difficult to back our trailer and tow vehicle smoothly into the site. Fishing is difficult without a boat as majority of the shoreline is lined with significant sized rip rap that make it difficult to get down to the water line, so we were limited to fishing near the two boat ramps and docks.Wasps were prevalent around our trailer and would get into our tow vehicle. The electrical 30A pedestal socket was in need of maintenance as it would periodically loose connection with our EMS.Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and will probably return in the future.

This is a very nice campground. The area was freshly mowed and restrooms were kept clean.
