Small campground RIGHT on the river. Sites 9, 10 and 11 are the best for tent camping. Large sites each with their own rive access and little river pools to sit in. Need to watch out for bees, but overall the bugs were not bad. Site was clean with very clean and maintained pit toilets. Highway noise was not bothersome for us, since the river drown out that sound. Sunny and Dave and the nicest camp hosts and the whole grounds are kept up really nicely. Nice green shade and treetop canopy. Good hiking right nearby.

I would not recommend this campground to anyone. My husband and I are camping lovers and try to go whenever possible. Well, this time we went with a group of 6 total and unfortunately did not get to choose the place.
Our main issues were the following-

• Our site was the smallest one I’ve ever seen. As in there wasn’t even room for our tent. Thankfully, we were able to squeeze into one of our groups sites as theirs was huge. They are either super large or too tiny to use. *we had site 12 btw.

• The dirt was so dry it got on EVERYTHING. You couldn’t step out of your tent without getting it on your shoes, pants, hands, etc. And the campground is very true to it’s name so we literally were caked in dirt once the wind blew it everywhere. My Birkenstock’s need a deep cleaning.

• The campground is not densely wooded so everything is very out in the open. Worst part of this besides it ruining the nature ambiance? The main highway is within view and therefore incredibly loud. There is a precious little waterfall by the river but that noise was almost completely drowned out by the cars and trucks passing by.

• The restrooms were very obviously downwind from us so our tent smelled like a sewer for 70% of the trip. And sadly this was a longer trip of 3 nights 4 days. Sigh.

• This facility is not very well maintained, for instance- our fire pit grate was bent in so our skillet would slide right off if not held throughout the cooking.

I will say the staff were friendly and there were more than I had ever encountered. Some wildlife patrol would ride around sporadically on a golf cart, and as soon as we arrived the camp host greeted us and gave us a sheet of rules to abide by. They sell wood in case you run out for $8 a pop (a small bundle).

We plan on never returning.
