I am disappointed and sadden to see the condition of the Cayuse Horse. I have been utilizing this camp for many years and have always appreciated the ease of making the reservation through Recreation.gov, but my most resent visit was shocking to see how far down the camp has gone since the loss of Ken as the camp host. The description of the camp is far from accurate under the new "management" there was no stock water provided. Using the pump to get stock water is not a viable source for horses. The pump is located down hill from the corrals approximately 75 to 100 yards and took two of us (senior citizens) to man handle the pump to get any water out of the pump. To carry enough water to maintain horses back up the hill was brutal to say the least. The camp is designated as stock camping only, however there were campers with reservations without any stock during our week long stay. Five separate individuals took up camp sites that were for horse or stock trailers. No host came to check/clean the camp bathrooms or fill toilet paper or verify payment of those who just pulled into a camp site. Prior host, Ken, had completed PVC pipe and spigots all the way around the corrals however no one opened the valve up behind the camp to provide gravity flow fresh water from the reservoir which is where fresh clean water has always been provided from. Horse Campers who arrived were not prepared for the lack of water. Corrals are in disrepair, we had to improvise with duct tape to fix the panels that were separated from the support posts. All of the signs stating stock camping only have been removed so campers who do not have livestock are unaware. As an equestrian I have very few options when it comes to camping with my horse as I am in my senior years. I can not haul heavy buckets by hand. Having only 14 sites designated for horses is a blessing, please help make sure this camp remains livestock use only. NOTE: Corrals now have water available at the pens.

This was our first time at this great horse camp. We met some amazing people. The camp host was super helpful and super generous. We will definitely be going back.
