Wilderness Gateway used to be the premier campground on the Clearwater National Forest. Not any more. We have been camping there for the past 40 years, the decline is most noticable in the last 5 years or so. The impression is that the Forest Service simply does not care. Conversations with employees indicate Diversity-Equity-Inclusion (DEI) social engineering programs have been more important than land management or public service programs. At a cost of $22 per night one would at least expect the the sewer dump would be open and there would be evidence of at least some maintenance. The picnic table was simply falling apart, filthy and unusable. The ajoining historic visitor center is closed, again no evidence of even simple maintenance such as mowing the grass. The entire facility has the appearance of simply melting into the ground due to lack of caring. It is a shame this wonerful history is deemed unimportant. By the way, despite the Forest Service deficiencies your reservation site worked fine.

Camped in one of the pull-through sites and loved it! Went with a couple of friends, enjoyed our trip and getting to know the local wildlife including hummingbirds, snowshoe hare, ground squirrel, chipmunks and many others. We will definitely camp here again!
