Wilderness Gateway was just what we wanted and expected. The location was great to explore the area and fish the rivers. The campground was quiet other than the sound of the river and the occasional truck heading up the Lolo trail, which we expected due to other comments but did not really notice. Having a dump station for the RV was nice, although there was no running water there to rinse anything so plan accordingly when we went in early June. The rivers and creeks were still high and dangerous, but we were able to find pockets of Cutthroats and Rainbows in multiple areas. Wading was pretty much out of the question though. There are plenty of hiking trails of varying difficulties, although the easier ones were all out and back, switchback trails. Vegetation was lush and we ended up finding a few ticks.Weather was typical for Idaho, especially in the mountains - 40's at night up to 90 during the day with the occasional thunderstorm dumping almost an inch of rain one afternoon.

Ban the generators. With the advances in solar panels generators are no longer necessary. Get the firewood situation under control. You solve the problem of people transporting wood from home by allowing only kiln dried, dimension cut scraps for firewood. There are no beetles in kiln dried wood.

This is an amazing campground. Make sure to take a road trip to the Jerry Johnson hot springs about 20 miles up the road.

Amazing spot! We drove in from Missoula and the scenery is just beautiful. The sites themselves are spacious and, despite the creek, it wasn't too buggy. Remember to bring your own water! They do have water at the campground but it isn't potable.
