Great campground in a beautiful park!

The campground was very clean, plenty of space between your neighbors, and the restrooms were reasonably clean. Absolutely will be staying at this location again.

Our campsite was clean. The shady spots are always nice. We had one conveniently located to the bathhouse so always nice.

Prohibition rules at Arrowhead. No alcohol POSSESSION in the campground. There are signs everywhere. They treaten you with large fines (5000?) and jail time! If you are travelling from one campground to another, you have to dump out all alcohol before entering the campground. For those that are on extended trips or "full time RV", that can get expensive. I felt that campground hosts were sniffing around looking for violators. They seem to find reasons to visit your campsite. There are also unleashed dogs. Rules not enforced there. I also saw the campground host who has a utility trailer and what sounded like a very mean dog inside the camper. Anyone needing anything might want to use the other campground host at 22? I think. They also have a sign stating that they lock the gate at 10PM. If you have a late arrival, or are out past 10 for any reason, (were to dinner, get a flat tire ect) I guess your out of luck??!!I asked a host about it and he said they don't lock the gate BUT they have locked it on occassion and a new ranger might start enforing the rules. Who knows...Bathrooms are in poor condition.

I have never stayed anywhere. That the host comes into my campsite and tells me to turn my music down (which was coming from my phone and turned down ). But then the next night after 10 pm campsite down from us. They were very loud and setting off their car alarm non stop. One time it went off. It was going off for three straight minutes. But the host never went to them. And the bathrooms were very disgusting and stunk. And the water for the showers smelled really bad. And the site we had was very small. I am going to give it one more try at a different site. But if the experience is just as bad. I will not stay there again. This was our first time staying. We usually do Morrow Mountain.

Our first time in the Badin Lake area. We enjoyed the campground, our site was pretty private. The sites are well laid out and the picnic table was large. The bath house wasn't too far, it was spartan but clean and well maintained. The paved trail around the campground was nice, and the proximity to the lake was great. We did hike trail #94, which went along the lake then into the woods (at least the direction we took). It was a bit more strenuous than we expected, there are some inclines and lots of downed trees, but very enjoyable and scenic. Our only comment that might be negative is that the shooting area, while some distance away, was in easy earshot and there was gunfire throughout the day. Not terribly loud, but certainly noticeable.Overall, a nice experience, we hope to come back!

Bathrooms are filthy, and have been every time I’ve come here. It’s like they clean a little every other Monday, no hot water in shower, only warm enough to not freeze, zero even warm water out of sink, and no soap in a public restroom?? Fire pit was full to the top with ash. Electricity went out for a while. All of that I can look right past because the Badin lake area is great, but the reason I’ll never stay there again is the camp host Jennifer, with her arbitrary rules, authoritarian demeanor, and her perpetual “that’s not my job” attitude. All of the camp hosts before her were just wonderful to deal with. Unless you absolutely need electricity hook up, don’t go there. Badin lake campground is far better.

For a winter camping experience, it was perfect! Beautiful serene lake views, quiet peaceful atmosphere, clean warm showers and bathrooms, electricity at most sites makes vans or RVs cozy, convenient grill picnic table and fire ring, make the campground welcoming. The .75 mile paved trail around the campground makes walking easy, even with the rain from the week before, and my husband hiked the 5.6-mile Badin Lake trail without sweat. We’ll definitely be back.

We stayed at Arrowhead in July, for one night on our way to Virginia from South Carolina, and one night on the way back home. The campground itself is nice and quiet, clean, etc. We especially enjoyed the hot showers on our second night, since we had been boondocking for a week in VA prior to. Overall a very nice experience. One issue: The road in to the campground from the highway is in pretty rough shape, we had to crawl along at walking speed to avoid bouncing the car and trailer all over the road. That's our only complaint, and it's minor. And it may not even be the campground's fault. Bottom Line: Two thumbs up from me and my wife.
