I suppose for fishing and OHV sports, this is a great spot. We like hiking and quiet. Neither is in great supply at Arrowhead. Most National Forests are great. There was one trail in the camping area, according to Alltrails. It was literally a stream of running water at times. Hiking in both directions we could not complete the loop—way too black water, “marshy muddy”. After a mile+ drive through very, very potholed gravel roads you arrive. It’s just not worth the trip. However, I disagree with other reviews. There are places for food and supplies within a reasonable drive distance. It is a quite busy place for OHV and the Uwharrie area is very scenic.

We had a very nice visit at Uwharrie NF.... most of the time it was very quiet, esp. after the site next to us emptied, taking their barking dog with them. But just a nice campground, nice sites, great pathway to bike and walk on and like I said, quiet!

Great quite campground. Plenty of stuff to do and see. Our site was clean.

We enjoyed our stay at Arrowhead Campground. Our site was great and the bathhouse was clean. We hiked part of the Badin Lake trail. Which needs some maintenance, it looks like storms went through and felled quite a few trees that had to be climbed over or detoured around. From our neighboring campers it was obvious that this is a favorite location for those who like to travel the off road trail system in the Uwharrie Forest with their Jeeps! Badin Lake and the boat ramp is a short walk from the campground, when we camp there again it would be great to bring kayaks!

shade with trees for hammocks, sky chairs etc. Nearby access to Badin lake. Most camp sites are well spaced apart.

The love the Uwharrie area, it's very pretty and rustic. But both times that I have camped at either Arrowhead campground or the Badin Lake campground there have been a bunch of redneck yahoos coming and going in their ATVs all night long, revving their engines, hooting any hollering and carrying on like a pack of wild hyenas late into the night. So definitely don't come camping here if you are looking for a good night's rest, because there is no enforcement of the curfew/quiet hours.

Very nice campground. The sites are spacious with picnic tables. For the most part the bathrooms are clean, I just happened to have a spider jump out at me at the sink area once but you are in the woods. Showers looked clean but we only stayed one night and didn't use them. Just a walk to the lake for fishing. We will probably go again next year. The only problem was finding a grocery store close by when we ran out of water. But again, you are in the forest.
