I have camped at Lake Powhatan on several occasions, and it has always been a positive experience. That's why I keep coming back! This trip I booked a glamping site and it was absolutely amazing! The tent and all its contents were clean and well maintained and bed was soo comfortable! Definitely recommend glamping to anyone who is not a seasoned camper and to folks like me who have been camping for years but want a less work, more relaxation kind of experience.

My 11 year old son, my husky 🐾and I Glamped for 3 days. We explored, built fires, cooked on the grill. It rained off and on the whole time, which was surprising very calming and enjoyable. The staff is great too.

Friendly and helpful staff, very clean campground and facilities. So much to explore - but I enjoyed the ease of access by bicycle to the North Carolina Arboretum. It would be nice to have more detailed maps of the trails in the region, but there is one posted at entrance. Staff recommended that I capture on my phone due to service and gps issues, to be expected. I discovered an easy trail to Arboretum, then a more challenging and breathtaking option as well (hike or bike). Close enough for quick jaunt to Asheville for civilization, yet peaceful and quiet escape. Don't be overwhelmed with multiple options - just take in the beauty and whatever adventure you find, then plan your return trip! Glamping was a good option for first brief visit, but there are plenty of camping options. This seems to be a good "home base" if you want to spend time exploring the National Parks in NC. I'm eager to return.

The campsites and the tents were very well done and quite comfortable. Bathroom facilities were clean and within easy walking distance, wherever your site was located. The lake was a little disappointing as it was very muddy and the bottom was yucky, but that is a personal issue! Also, we had a dying baby staying at the tent site across from us who literally cried ALL night. Again, that was not the fault of the campground!

My husband and I were very impressed with the staff. They made us feel welcome and came around the glamping site several times to see if we needed anything. We had several questions about the area when we checked out and the staff was very personable, knowledgeable and willing to share information. Be aware... this is not really glamorous camping. Yes, it has a queen sized bed and a bit of electric to get you around the tent, but basically it is a campsite with a large, sturdy tent. The bathrooms were within a short distance of our tent and the toilets were clean, but I would not consider the showers to be hot nor cleaned of creepy, crawly things. Please read all the updates that the website has posted. Due to Covid they do not provide a cooler nor do they have a place to purchase wood or ice. It was not necessarily a problem for us, but if you do not do your research you may not know this. Also, the glamping area is dark, so remember to take flashlights and lanterns. That being said, it was a much needed break for two people who have not been away from our house for 5 months due to the coronavirus. We enjoyed hiking around the lake, doing a bit of fishing, and cooking some good food on the fire pit. We stayed three days and wished we had would have booked at least two more days.
