Glamping..... the best way to camp. The second time staying at Powhatan. No complaints with this facility. My only concern is with recreation.org. There refund policy does not state that you must cancel before 14 days if you are glamping. Even Powhatan was not aware if this policy. I ended up going but would have preferred to reschedule when everyone was able to attend. Half of my party had pressing issues to come about.

had a great weekend here. It was the perfect mix of tent camping and comfort. The tent was great and the shared restrooms were always clean. the campsite itself is a great location - loved the walk to the arboretum.

My one word of warning for anyone bringing a smaller dog (mine are standard dachshunds about), they figured out how to sneak out of the tent in the first 30 seconds we were there. So make sure to bring something to weight down the tent front or keep them from it.

Unfortunately like many reviews before this one, we recently had the same negative experience regarding this campgrounds site hosts. I could go into detail about our weekend but I will save you time and simply tell you: DO NOT book these unless you are a quiet couple or small family planning to be in bed before 9pm or want to be woken up around 6AM. We stay at several campsites every year and understand campground etiquette but the quiet hour standards here are unrealistic. These are not made for groups over 4-6 people and are absolutely not for sitting around the campfire after dinner for games or smores. The hosts are just very hit or miss, we had one that was helpful upon check-in and then another harass us our last night by the leaving us in fear/confusion of the cops being called and sitting in our site with his cart lights off making us INCREDIBLY uncomfortable at 9:50PM. Other guests from different sites spoke with us about facing the same threat and confusion. The campground itself is beautiful and bathrooms are clean. Sites 80-83 had a lot of stink bugs (our group woke up each night to a few in bed) but thats camping I guess. We felt very safe in regards to bears and the campground is technically gated. Overall I doubt we would ever go back unless it was just my husband and I but honestly I would spend the money trying another site beforehand. I wanted to share our experience in case you are considering the same type of trip we planned (rented 6 tents total for our yearly friends/couple reunion). I ignored the previous reviews and naively didnt understand the impact these hosts could have. Each night we spent our time talking/stressing about the situation instead of catching up. Unfortunate.

The employees are friendly and the glamping tent is so great! Bring your own bedding for the cot. Coffee and a cooler were not provided, I think due to Covid. So I think they need to update that in the ad. Overall we and our kids the best weekend ever.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. The glamp sites are well spaced, but when they are mostly occupied the sound travels. The staff at the gate were friendly and helpful. The camp hosts were just the right amount of attentive. We did experience an inconsistency with how the staff practiced social distancing. The check in and exit staff at the front gate were always masked and used no-touch procedures. Our camp hosts, however, did not wear masks and while they were giving us the orientation to our glamping site, both walked into our tent unmasked. When I asked them about their mask policy they responded that it was up to me and my comfort. No it is not. The purpose of a mask policy is so that we do not unwittingly transmit something from ourselves. My wearing a mask has nothing to do with your comfort. Your wearing a mask has nothing to do with my comfort. Wearing a mask has to do with taking personal responsibility. When outside I think we could have all maintained six feet of social distance with no problem. I do think that the camp hosts wearing a mask inside the tent while with us would have been consistent with the practices the rest of the staff maintained.
