The hosts were great. And the campsite was great but the road in is poor. In fact I was towing my car behind the RV and the PCV valve on the car engine clogged up from all the dust.

This is one of my favorite campgrounds in WNC. Lots of great hiking and cycling accessible. Dip in the South Toe to cool off! Sites are decently graded, with upgraded picnic tables and fire rings. Absolutely NO cell phone signal, so prepare to unplug. Most sites can accommodate two vehicles and two large tents. My only gripe with my recent visit is that the cleanliness of bathrooms has gone downhill since last year. Last year the campground hosts cleaned the bathrooms every morning before anyone woke up and they were immaculate. This year they didn't clean them until mid-morning and they were still pretty gross. I realize this level of service will vary year-to-year as hosts rotate, but I think there needs to be a higher baseline standard.

The campground has gone down in quality over the past couple of years. We miss the old camp hosts!

This is a difficult one to rate for this trip. We were there during TS Fred when the river flooded. During this event the staff and fellow campers worked together to make sure all were safe and as comfortable as possible, There was damage to the approach to the bridge which was fixed pretty quick, The sites along the river were damaged and needed some work also. Once the repairs to the bridge were complete they closed the campground. I somewhat understand the closing but wish they had kept the upper loop open. I know we/they can't control the weather but shutting down really was a bummer.
