First time I have been camping in about 40 years and it was great. Sleeping in a tent was a new experience for an old guy but overall I enjoyed the time and the campground. It's well maintained and in a beautiful location along the South Toe River. Facilities were great and I really appreciated the (unexpected) hot showers. I am planning to do this again soon

Beautiful location, friendly camp hosts, spacious campsites with good distance between site. The hosts work very hard to keep the facilities super clean. Hot showers, flush toilets...great spot.

Absolutely wonderful hosts at this campground. Hiking trails are abundant and the campground is beautiful. Highly recommend.

Great restroom and shower facility. My negative is that the campsite was not private, as expected. I had a parallel parking campsite (versus a pull in driveway). This made the site just feel completely exposed as people constantly walked or drove immediately past my campsite. (My car was along the main thoroughfare) Next time, I will call and make sure I am booking a drive in campsite (the map does not show driveways, not do the descriptions explain which is which).

Its a popular place but the facilities are clean, there are good day hiking options(though popular) and its a beautiful spot. All in all a great place for car camping in the high country.

Very clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Great place to stay if you are going to hike Mt. Mitchell, the trail literally starts in the campground. Great fire rings, felt very safe.
