Juniper Springs is our favorite camping destination. We have been camping there for over a decade. However, the sites (our group had 6 of them) were not cleaned when we arrived, I found trash in the trees next to our site & the bathroom/showers are really in need of a renovation.

Although this is a beautiful campground, it is not dog friendly. Also, when I asked a male staff member a question so that I would be sure to follow the rules, he was very rude and aggressive. I witnessed him acting this way towards another camper as well. I assume all the other staff is friendly but did not have contact with them.

The Juniper Springs campsite in the Ocala National Forest is a sacred space. I have never before been in the presence of such grand, towering pine trees. It was almost like being in California's Redwood Forest. The springs are magical--electric blue in color and crystal clear. I especially enjoyed seeing the boils from which it appears the spring water is emerging from the Earth. Loved the hiking trails--special treat to be able to walk and run on the piece of the Florida Trail that traverses the campground. Diving into the cold, spring-fed waters in the swimming area was bracing and renewing, like a baptism.

Park staff was very friendly. Bathroom facilities, just like the whole campground, were always impeccably clean. You have to give your federal government credit first for setting up the National Forest in Ocala, and then for managing such a great, publicly accessible gem of a campsite.

I was sorry to learn that because of Covid, the canoe and kayak rental at Juniper was closed, but we just drove 20 miles up the road where we were able to rent canoes at Silver Springs State Park.
