Staff and amenities were perfect. Black bear although close, didn't enter oit campsite. Trails are still closed and we weren't aware prior to entering the park, so thats the only disappointment.

It's truly a beautiful campground but it's unfortunate they aren't doing anything about the trails and wood paths that have deteriorated and have become unusable.

We came here the last time five years ago; booked the same tent only site. It was great to be back, swim in the springs and take our kayaks out on the Juniper Run. We couldnt rent kayaks as they are still setting it back up, and we had to pay 10 dollars each kayak to put it in the water. In comparison: Alexander Springs doesnt charge for that. We saw two big gators out there, an otter, a black bear and a deer. The latter two took off as soon as they saw us. We didnt take photos as we like to leave wildlife alone as much as we can, just enjoy seeing it. Another camper was so kind to give us a ride so we could park our car at the take out site. We offered him the use of our kayaks but he said he was just paying it forward as others had given him rides before. Make sure to bring a whistle and life jackets for each kayak as they are mandatory for the river run. And no disposable containers allowed. We found the whole campground a bit more rundown and hopefully the caretakers will get it all back in shape. The little shop is closed. With the cold weather we could hear the traffic from the road more than we cared for. Once it warmed up the air contained more humidity and the noise didnt carry as far.

We had a blast - a great spot for some primitive camping. The kids really enjoyed the trails and the activities provided by the rangers.

This time our experience was not the bestThere was a group of campers that decided to have way too many Dogs in each camping site. For two days and two nights all we heard was dogs barking we reported to the office not much was done.My personal opinion, there should be a restriction how many dogs to can bring as a family per siteThere was 3 huge dogs in one site only and owners tide them to the trees and even blocked the walk way back to our site And there was two or three other sites in the same areas with multiple dogs To us it sounded like 10 dogs barking all day none stop , we only enjoyed our Thursday night when we arrived . I saw one ladies with two huge Poodles with out a leash took them in the ladies rooms, I notice this families with there dogs dont follow or respected the Rules posted every where took dogs in the trails and in bathrooms , Not Right. Everyone needs to follow the rules for the enjoyment of all the families trying to get away from the daily routine of life.

The spring was very beautiful and the campsite was pretty good. The campsite is pretty far from many places making it pretty quiet, maybe a plane flying by occasionally, but remember to bring everything you need because if you forget something the closest dollar general is about 25-30 minutes and Walmart is around 40 minutes. However, they have wood ~$7/bag and ice was ~$5/7lb bag (if Im remembering correctly) at the front gate area; the staff was also very nice and helpful with gate codes, buying stuff and explaining how things work. Overall, camping here has been a great experience and there will be a third camping trip.
