Excellent Pet Friendly Small Campground on undeveloped lake. The Campground is the only thing on the lake. Definitely a hidden gem for those looking for a quite getaway. Small Beach, boat launch and hiking trails around the lake provides plenty of recreation opportunities. The sites are well spaced out with water and electric hook ups. There is a bathhouse and dump station on site. The 2-mile dirt road entrance has a lot of potholes but is very manageable. I used my Merlin Bird App and there were 8 different species singing in the morning walking my dog. For a full review and pictures check out our post on @kampingwithkona

Quiet wooded area with nice lake view. Trail around lake for nice walk. Be aware of 2 mile gravel/dirt road to park.

OUTSTANDING experience. The stay was peaceful, clean, well groomed. Nice trail around the lake. Beautiful lake!Above all, we are certain to return at a future date when life takes us that way!!

The only reason I dont give this campground 5 stars its because of the 2 mile unimproved road to reach the campground and that theres no dump station on site, otherwise it would be a 5, magnificent views and the Lake with a beach is great.

Very beautiful location with lots of ways to enjoy the outdoors. Great views, wonderful swimming area and access to great nearby trails/hiking... including the amazing Florida National Scenic Trail!

Campground was great, though one thing could've helped prepar us- apparently there has been a boil order for some time as the system is repaired. Totally understandable but would be been nice to know we were low on fuel and could've arrived with some extra water. Also I'm not sure if I'm just not savvy enough but I cannot ever seem to know how to efficiently get topo maps of national forest - it should be the easiest thing but somehow it always takes forever.

We loved the spacious private sites and the beautiful trails. It was very peaceful and the night skies were spectacular! We will definitely be back!

Although this was a one night layover on our way home, did enjoy our stay. Friendly host, site clean, grounds in perfect condition, nice relaxing atmosphere, beautiful sunsets. Facilities are a bit dated but functional. For those expecting a Holiday Inn experience, go to a Holiday Inn. Will definitely come back for a longer stay!

The road was very rough , There was no camp host, , the restroom was terrible the shower head didn't work ., It was a beautiful , was very secluded and quiet. and water and electric only positive..

The lake is beautiful. The trail around the lake was a big hit with our 5 year old grandson! ( He loved looking for the gnomes) The campground host and his wife are friendly and helpful!

the bathrooms need to be cleaner better. There's dirt in the corners and cobweb on the walls and parts of the ceiling. There was a tree down on the trail around the lake, it would be nice to get it cut down.

The camp hosts are excellent. They engage with all campers and keep a close eye on the campground. Since it is a remote location they make it safe. Bath house facilities kept clean. We had Site 1 with beautiful view of lake.

Camel Lake is a wonderful park and would love to go again. The Camphost wasnt good. They didnt clean the sites, fire pits or bathrooms. He was rude and we did not have a peaceful time there because of him. I would like to come back but not if that host is there. Ranger was very nice and polite but host was not.

The road going into the camp is very rough and needs some work. I am now just noticing all these hidden charges in my bill. I stayed two nights! They charged $48! They charge $10 per day for electric! They charge an $8 bogus fee regardless of how long you stay. When you are booking, you don't notice all the hidden fees. Surprise! And the camp hosts manning the place are volunteers. Our government profiting off of our national parks. What a shame.

This was the most beautiful view I have ever had camping in Florida. For a remote campground this place was immaculate. No trash at all, very clean bathrooms, well mowed and cleared campsites. The hosts were perfect. Greeted us when we arrived and made themselves available to us if we needed anything but were not over bearing or intrusive. Yes the road getting in was bouncy especially pulling a popup, but not a big deal. Honestly the reviews had me scared going in but it was not that bad. We were there in late August and the bugs were not bad at all. Very secluded and private and no date or Wi-Fi service but were were able to call and text from our campsite. We were able to get some service on the dirt road so we could pull up directions and such, but most of the forest is no service. Gas station 6 miles up the road had wi-fi. I am an avid camper and Florida traveler and I would say this was the best camping experience I have ever had as far as feeling like you are really in the forest but still have some comforts such as electric and bathrooms. Cant wait to go back!!!

Camel Lake is a beautiful location. Camp sites have adequate distance between sites and the power is clean 50 Amps. Water pressure was good. The lake is a great place to relax, sun bathe or have a picnic. We walked the trail that surrounds the lake... an easy 1.2 mile trek.The only drawback is there are no dump stations on the individual sites or at the camp. Luckily, our tanks were nearly empty when we got there. The dirt road leading to the camp site is pretty rugged in spots but nothing that our rig couldn't handle... it did cause some shakes and rattles on the 2 mile trip but nothing serious.We only stayed one night as this was a waypoint on our trip to New Orleans. We were sad that we didn't stay longer but we will return for a more lengthy stay.
