We had a fantastic time at the camp ground. People were nice and the park was quiet. The bathroom and shower were very clean. We were at lot#3 and enjoyed the space we had. The walk around the lake was picturesque. We will be back again. Oh yeah, my husband and I are Amateur Radio Operators and had fun activating the park. No issue from other folks.

Just so you know...The forestry service did a control burn in and around the camp ground. Still a great place to camp.

Great remote location with plenty of hiking right from campsite. Friendly and helpful camp hosts keep this place in good shape.

Camping at Camel creek is very nice only the road into the main gate could use help and was flooded in 4 to 5 spots water over our running boards on an Escalade

The road to this campsite is sharp rock 3-6 inches in diameter with no where to turn around. One sharp rock wedged between my duel tires on my motorhome and poked through my outer tire creating a big hole. Did not notice this immediately because other tire held me up. I did complain to host about the road incoming and they said Florida does not plan to fix or pave road. I would rethink this campsite. Cost me $350.00 new tire and almost had to buy a second one because the rock rubbed a wear facet into the inside tire. Tire store said still good but would have blown out if I waited any longer.

What a hidden gem! And “hidden” is the word. The road in is a mess! Go very slow and easy but the lake is a lovely, swimmable inland lake. The camp host greeted us right away and was fun to visit with as we settled in. Peaceful beautiful setting. Only water/electric at site. No dump station I can remember seeing. Bath house was clean.

We have stayed here before and have enjoyed our stay each time. This is one of our favorite campgrounds.

Very excellent campground. Nice and quiet. Camp sites are space very far apart. There was no internet or cell coverage. We had t- mobile. Showers were very clean and maintained.

Camp host….. Bill Powers was excellent. Bill went out of his way to make our stay fantastic. He offered information on hiking trails. He greeted us immediately upon arriving in camp… personally took us to our campsite… offered to help in anyway possible. His demeanor was excellent……often stopping by to chat with myself and all other campers. When not supporting camp patrons Bill was busy with campground upkeep. The forest was flooded from hurricane Ida…. So we were limited in accessing everything…. Bill made our stay memorable.

Camel Lake is beautiful. The biggest downfall besides not having great cell service was the yellow flies. They were really bad around Memorial Day weekend. The shower is interesting as you have to keep pushing the button to turn it on and shower. The sites are nice and have a grill as well as fire ring. The lake is nice as was the trail we walked around it.

This campground is beautiful! Lots of trees and bike /walking trails. The sites are large and well maintained. The hosts on site during our visit, Ray and Kathy, were wonderful and friendly. They kept those bathrooms very clean!

My wife and I decided to rent a C-Class RV and see what traveling and camping in a RV was all about. This was our first time in a RV and boy did we luck out getting a reservation at Camel Lake Campgrounds in the Apalachicola National Forest. 12 miles south of Bristol on SR12. Entry road FR105 is a little rough in spots but can handle all types of campers. Small campground with only 10 sites, 4 with power and water hookups (#1 - #4). We stayed at site #3 and had a beautiful view of the lake. The campground has flush toilets and showers. All sites have a charcoal grill and firepit. Plenty of hiking and biking on the forest lanes and a nice 1 mile trail around the lake. Campground hosts Rick and Kay are the best and were extremely helpful answering all the questions we had about RV hookups and advice on a free dump station at Wright Lake campgrounds just down the road. We have Verizon cell service and could only get 2 bars at the day use area but that was the only negative. We would definitely stay here again and bring a canoe or kayak!

Beautiful and serene campground with large campsites, not to many. Good view of the lake from most places. There is a hiking trail that is well maintained going around the lake. The campground is far away from any busy roads so there is no traffic noise. I really enjoyed the time we spent at this campground. The campground host was pleasant and friendly, available.

great place. hiked the trail. host was very nice.
I replaced 2 light bulbs at bathhouse. 2 were burnt out. 2 were working. Quiet. sites far enough apart for privacy. Will be back Summer for the beach there. It was cool hot cold so bathhouse sweated. Perhaps larger ceiling fan in bathrooms would dry out the bathrooms better. See you soon Camel Lake.,

Great, quiet spot. Plenty of trail mileage. Lots of dirt and forest service roads to explore. Sites are spacious and clean.

Camp Host was great. A friendly, knowledgeable guy with a great sense of humor. He kept the facilities clean, campground secure, trash cans empty— he and his wife did a great job. I will return, and I hope to see them again.

10 sites, only 4 with hookups, 2+ miles into the woods by a lake. Who could ask for a better place to camp? Quiet, secluded, large sites, plenty of trail and dirt roads to walk.
