Nottingham is a lovely campground to position yourself for adventures east of the Cascade crest. Hikes accessible from Hwy 35, Rd 44, or Rd 17 are easy to get to. The Hood River, which borders the campground, is beautiful but swift, so don't plan on swimming there. The river noise is great for sleeping! Keep your eyes peeled for harlequin ducks, river otters, rabbits, sapsuckers, night hawks, or (of course) deer.

Our group stayed in sites 6, 7, and 8 this visit. 6 and 7 are a great adjacent pair for co-camping; 8 is more removed from its neighbor sites. As mentioned, bring your own drinking and washing water. The pit toilets are perfectly fine.

One thing about Nottingham is that the man who tends it is VERY into rules, including ones that aren't documented anywhere else. We've had issues with this before -- he claims that there's a maximum of two tents per campsite, though that's *nowhere* to be found on recreation.gov or the National Forest website, and there are clearly spaces for more tents than that in some sites (especially at campsite 6). If this is accurate, then the website should absolutely tell you before you go! Be prepared to get a lecture on some particular thing that this guy is feeling strongly about when you run into him.

Quiet campground, our campground was large, level and right on the river, which was a lovely sound. The camp host was friendly and did a great job emptying the trash and keeping the vault toilet clean. Will definitely return to this campground!

The camp site I stayed at was very nice. It was located directly next to the river which provided some good ambient noise. The camp site was very clean, and I would gladly camp there again.

We had a fantastic time. Our site was great, the camp host was very helpful and friendly, and the bathrooms were very clean.

Hard rain made it difficult to appreciate the campground. The website did not note the lack of potable water. Fortunately we brought enough flour short stay. Very clean toilet room.

The host was terrific. Sites are mostly extremly spacious and on the water. Rvs are fine but dry camping and dont forget to bring your own water. The river is cooling during the heat and sounds nice. Can be dusty and be sure to drive 5mph. There wasnt much trails to be had around the campground but we just walked to whole grounds a few times a day. Oh the sites do have sand as well as the river. We would definitely go again
