Park is not well maintained. Camp site had trash in it and the bathrooms no TP.

What a lovely way to spend several summer days in Oregon. Clear Lake water level was high, the temperature just right, and the campground calm and tidy. Site 11 where I stayed could use a new picnic table. . .but other than that, everything was A-okay. Pit toilets were clean and stocked with TP. I will head back to the same campground in August.

Campers beware — incredibly mismanaged; items get stolen, reserved sites are given away, hear gunshots all night. We were already tentative about coming here after reading reviews mentioning human feces, trash, poor management, but this was the only available reservable campground in the area when we were booking. In hindsight, it would have been SO much better to just boondock somewhere than to stay here. On our first night, we were constantly awoken to gunshots from the surrounding forested area. Hunting/shooting is allowed in the vicinity but we weren’t expecting it to go on so late into the night.

The next day, we drove out for a long hike around noon and left a few items on our site. We’re in a camper so we typically leave items like chairs, leveling blocks, etc. to show the site is occupied since we don’t have a tent set up. We came back that night to find our reserved site had been given away, and all our gear was missing. Camp host wasn’t at campground and a family member told me she assumed the site was empty and gave it away, even with our reserved tag / information posted, and our items on the site. We were able to find some of our items stowed under the hosts’ trailer that night, and had to roam the campground in the dark to ask neighboring campers if they had seen our other items. As for finding a spot to sleep, they told us to drive around and park in any other reserved site for the night (we didn’t want to displace the tent campers that were given our spot) essentially telling us to occupy another reserved site and kick someone else out of their spot.

The next morning, we spoke with the host who told us she saw our items at our site, moved some of them (?) but left the rest, and assumed we had left a full day earlier than our reservation end. She offered no explanation as to why she moved our stuff or what happened to our other items. Such shady and disappointing behavior for a camp host!
