We have spent Independence day at Spring Drive with friends for several years now. We love the location, the quiet, and the friendly people. I am concerned that we had little supervision this year with no camp host and over the last few years many of the sites appear to be deteriorating. The remaining old buildings are unsightly and much of the space needs manicured. In years past we were spared the noise of ATV/OHVs but with no one there to enforce that rule it was removed from the entry regulations. The few that were there were well behaved but I wonder for the future.
Thanks for asking, we look forward to next year's visit
Bill

The actual site (008) could have been better. Not terribly surprising since the whole campground area is slightly hilly, but the site was not that level - needed height adjustments on 3 wheels, more than any other location I visited on my trip. The layout of the utilities was poor - the sewer was far enough away to require an extension hose and placed so it was difficult to avoid having the sewer hose cross the water line. The 30A breaker on the electrical box failed (failed, not tripped) so I lost electricity unexpectedly but was fortunately able to get the 20A connection to work.

On the bright side, the host was attentive - greeted us on arrival, checked on the problems, and delivered the firewood I purchased. Also enjoyed the clean picnic table and the fire pit, both located up a small rise (maybe 4 ft) from the parking pad.

Camp hosts were fabulous. Sites were a little difficult to navigate utilities and uneven ground made leveling tough. But overall a nice peaceful visit

Excellent site. I really felt like I was in the woods. No cell signal but you know what? sometimes that is great to enjoy the nature around you without distraction. Sites are very far apart and level. Everything I needed right there... Next time I will go spend time at Frog lake. Thank you for providing a real camping experience.

Full hookups are great and the sites are spacious. There isn't much to do but it is a convenient location to recharge after dry docking for a week

It might be a little tricky to find, but it is worth the drive! Quiet! Trees! Huge lots and full hookups! It is only a short drive to White River Falls Park that offers a cool trail down to the river.

Spring Drive RV Campground is a hidden gem in the Mt Hood National Forest. Quiet, secluded, spacious campsites with full hookups. So close to so much activity in/around Mt Hood. Ditch your phones (spotty AT&T cel coverage) and enjoy camping here. We loved it.

Spring Drive Campground is located in Maupin, Oregon, about 34 miles from Welches, Oregon, and 58 miles from Hood River, Oregon. We stayed for 1 night on July 29, 2019 in Site 8. Site 8's picnic table and fire pit are up a few wooden stairs above the site. What is very unique about this campground is that it offers about 8 full hook up sites that are very long and spacious. All have a picnic table and fire pit. Nice and private. No cell service for Sprint, no WiFi. Quiet, peaceful and very dark at night. We never talked to the host, but there is one or two onsite. There are old forest service storage buildings by some of the sites. No water other than the hookups, no restrooms or showers. They do have bear proof dumpsters for your garbage. It was a wonderful, 1-night stay, and I would go back in the future and stay longer. The only irritation was that they failed to notify us that their water was out of service prior to our arrival on July 29 (and apparently had been out or order for several weeks). They had signs indicating a spring was nearby, but the primitive hose/tube connection to the spring made it impossible for us to fill our fresh water tank, so we had to drive to find water. I would have rather come prepared. If you need civilization, turn back towards Government Camp, Mt. Hood, Welches or Hood River, as once you pass the campground it’s a long time before you will find anything.

Nice quiet spot in the trees.
Just over an our from Gresham with less chance of rain that west side choices.
Hookups make it comfy, distance between sites makes it seem secluded.
A short walk to the wood puts one into the National Forest and walking abandon trails and old forest roads are good exercise for me and my pet.
