we loved clear creek campground. we camped at site 12 and had a beautiful view of the creek as well as some soothing background noise to fall asleep to. very serene atmosphere although a little busy. we had good neighbors and enjoyed our stay

Everything was fine. One thing we noticed was most of the campsites were reserved, however no one was there, even on the second day of their reservation. I had thought the if the party that booked it didn't show up by the second day it could be released. The camp host said the they had no way to do that, that if I looked at the camp rules I wouldn't see that.I find it reprehensible that with the shortage of campsites in our area that these could not be freed up. People are gaming the system at the expense of the public. I know the government doesn't care - people have paid the money already, so you have yours. I think it is eminently reasonable that if a party will not get to their site by check in on day two or just don't show at all that the site should be put to use by people that WILL show up.

Excellent spot because it has direct river access.

Great campground. The sites are pretty private, and there's only 13 of them. Our site was the closest to the river, though it looked like most sites on the river side had access via trails from the site to the river. There's a ton of rocks now as the river has less water entering from the glaciers- but it's a beautiful bluish water. The kids played on the rocks, found some frogs, and had a ton of neat old tree stumps to play on. Was such a wonderful experience I already booked another reservation before the end of the season. The pit toilets were some of the cleanest and most bug free that I've experienced with pit toilets (and some flush toilets!). The host was great and very easy to talk to. There were some bugs in the campsite (again, not in the bathrooms!!), so using bug spray is wise. Again, great experience, already booked a return trip!!!

Campground right on river, but also on right on the higway. Not a ton of road traffic and the river does mask the sound, but you can see right down into a lot of the sites from the road. 12 & 13 have best river access/view such as it is, but 2, 5, 6 & 8 are more private. Really good access to the river and a great swimming hole at the turnaround after space 13. Good basecamp for hiking as there are tons of trails nearby.

Nice and clean, relatively private campsites, some road noise from the main road but nothing annoying. Make sure you stop at the bulletin board and read the rules. Depending on what camp site you get you might have some neighbors across the way. I've been there twice now and it seems if you go on a weekday you can expect to have it mostly to yourself and on weekends or weekdays with big events in Darrington (music festivals in the summer) you can expect it to be a full campground but still have a really nice experience (everyone was friendly) . There is plenty of river access for every one even if you don't have a river front site. The camp host was also really nice and helpful.
