This campground is one of extremes. Unfortunately it's mostly extremely bad. To get to the campground you have to trundle down 1.5 miles of road that would rival the moon for craters. Constant crashingly deep potholes litter the way making for 15-20 minutes of back breaking driving. Upon which you are rewarded with a campground that is roughly 600 feet away from I-90. Yes you read that correctly, a mile and a half of awfully maintained dirt road just to end up right next to the freeway. My wife and I literally had to yell at each other to be heard at more than arms distance. The noise is oppressive and nonstop.

For the good, the sites are physically lovely. They're spacious and well tucked away, plenty of trees, and look quite nice. There's okay access to the water - at our site (33) there was a nice path down but it ended with a final 6-10 foot drop to the riverbed; manageable but not exactly pleasant. The vault toilets are exactly what you've come to expect and water comes from a hand pump well.

However, I can't understate how bad the noise pollution is. You feel like you're right on the freeway (because you practically are). We had a two night reservation but ended up leaving less than five hours after we arrived. The environment was so stressful and unpleasant that we realized staying would just equate to paying money to have a bad time. Which meant we got to take the horrific road back out to cap off the unpleasantry of our trip.

If you're the sort of person who camps to enjoy the quiet of nature I strongly recommend you look elsewhere, this campground will only be a disappointment to you you. The only sort of camper I could recommend this to is the noisy camper; large families having a gathering, or young adults looking for a night of revelry (and with young enough bodies to bounce back from the drive in and out) then it is the closest forest service camping to Seattle. For me though, even as an erarly 30 something I won't ever voluntarily return,

This place is full of people who have set up permanent living quarters. The road is terrible to drive, lots of deep potholes. I would recommend staying anywhere but here.
