I made an online reservation for a campsite at American Forks campground (site 7) for 9/19-9/20/2023. When I arrived (one hour after checkout time), someone was occupying it but they werent there. Thinking they were running late, I left and came back at 5:00 pm and they were still occupying it. This time the party was there so I spoke with them and they said they had a reservation. They told me they had stopped at the Naches ranger station and were told all campsites were open and to self-register for any one they wanted. I realized there was a mixup so I thanked them for the explanation and left. So I did not get to stay in my reserved spot.

Clean campground and bathrooms. Pleasant hostess. A bit of road noise even next to White River. Enough cell signal for texting and phone calls (verizon)

We had to leave two days early due to a tree cracking and leaning. The possibility of it falling right on top of our site., I had my very small grand children with me. Then the restrooms smelled so bad I wore a mask and the fumes from the pounds and pounds of poo and pee burned my throat. I would ask for a refund for the loss of our two days, but unsure how to. FYI we also spoke with the National forest guy I believe his name was John Paul about the tree

The camp-site was spacious and on the White River side. No services except vault toilets and access to water. I did catch a little sun on solar panel.Very sweet campground.

Nice, quite campground with spacious and beautiful, private sites! Ours even had access to the river. Lots of water spigots and bathrooms. Friendly camp host. A great base camp for exploring MRNP or Crystal Mountain.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE The Dalles!!!! We have camped here since 2003. There are soooo many trails to hike and the river to walk by.Will surely be seeing you again this summer as another (3rd) generation of our family will be camping there AGAIN! :)
