The campground website fails to mention that the paved road, Index Galena Rd., into the campground is washed out. If you are familiar with the area, as I am, you would know that there is an alternative route over gravel Forest Service roads that adds 45 minutes or so to the trip. I was unhappy to discover the need to detour without any warnings from Recreation.gov. When I reserved my spot, there were only a couple of spots available. When I arrived at the campground there was only one other camper there who figured out the alternative route to get there. The main road, Index-Galena Rd, is washed out. You need to take the Beckler River road and then follow maps to take a circuitous detour to the campground.

Loved this campsite and will stay here again. The sound of the river is incredible and I'm pretty sure I got the best nights sleep. Stayed in site #20. It was outstanding to be amongst the trees and forest with the river as the backdrop.

Loop 2 spot 20, this is a reservation walk in site.

Pro: Set off to the side of the bathroom (25 yds.), very private, Sun - Wed quite, very shaded, drinkable water in loop 1, the nature loop is a nice 20 min stroll (little kids nice activity).

Cons: no tent platform (loop 2 is like that but not loop 1), uneven site, lots of mosquitoes, not much air flow compared to other less dense vegetation sites, when we arrived (2 hrs. after check in) paper garbage at site. Not a trailer friendly campground, very narrow roads and very limited turn around options.

The Index-Gelena road is out. You have to take the forest roads to get in. Look at the confirmation driving directions.
