Not sure if river access is intentionally discouraged, but the trail behind the firepit area near the bathroom has been blocked by 2 purposely cut down trees, making a difficult scramble necessary . . discouraging most of our group from attempting it. The lower level - straight ahead on the road that I remember from 12+ years ago has been washed out, only the area up near the road is accessible ( about 4 sites on the east side ), one above the outhouse and 2 in the clearing by the outhouse. Outhouse was clean, and mostly empty, and service by local host "Kevin" was fine.

We stayed here as an extended family and it was perfect for our needs. The path to the river could be a bit more accessible, but that was the only negative. There were plenty of tent spots, the kids loved running up and down the hills, and we had a great view of the night sky.

Lovely setting. Back to basics/back to nature. Have stayed here with our group of friends many times. It's a bit of a walk through the woods to get to the river, starting with a rather steep first 10 feet of trail, but full sun all day once you come to the river.
(This last trip - many of the garbage cans were already full and the outhouse was grubbier/stinkier than usual.)
