We've stayed here before, it's a very nice campground close to everything we were doing. This time, however, they picked our spot for us instead of letting us self select. We ended up in a spot we would not have ever chosen ourselves (there were many available that week day) and in hindsight should have tried to switch it. Hard to do after you're all unloaded and tired & hungry! Also this campground is quite large, and when we were there it was like a playground instead of a campground. So many large groups playing music, kids running and screaming unsupervised, etc. Don't come here expecting a peaceful outing.

Such a beautiful stay. Sites are a little closer than we are used too but so peaceful and definitely look forward to staying there again!!

We stayed in the A loop next to the bathrooms. It would be nice to get the lights to project more on the ground. I work for Redwood National Park and we changed the outdoor lighting at facilities to special night lighting that maintains both dark skies and does not attract insects. The bathroom fixtures need to be updated as the faucets were loose. I do like the fire pits being up on a concrete pad where there is better air. I know air inversion is a problem so check on some YouTube videos about creating a fire pit that is smokeless. It exists. The path to the swimming area needs to be fixed. There is too much erosion going on so a walkway down to the river bar and revegetating the area would be in order. Please keep some sights first come, first served as there are still people who travel this way. It seems to me that since the park is so popular and all the campgrounds only allow smaller campers and trailers that another campground needs to be considered maybe near Longmire so it can be on the same water system. The sights could then accommodate large RVs and trailers. Thank you for good roads in the park, if only you could get Washington to work on their roads. Finally, at Cougar Rock campground, the wash basin for kitchen items is very nice. Maybe the same should be made at Ohanapecosh.

The hike from the campground to Silver Falls was lovely. The campground itself is wooded and shady, although not much screening vegetation between sites. I would definitely stay here again.
