A matter of circumstances but still a difficult time. I booked a group site a few months back, a few weeks before our visit I received an email that the group sites would be closed for 3 of the 4 days we were booked for and we were spread around in the first come first serve loop instead. These spots were on both sides of the road and had the bathroom in them so it was hard to feel like a unified group at times. Additionally, we didn't have a tent set up in 1 of these spots and we're getting asked multiple times a day from first come first serve people if they could use that spot even though it was marked reserved for our group. The last 2 nights we were there, people just set up camp in the night anyway without asking. There was no where to swim which isn't a huge deal as there was plenty of hiking. But unfortunately it had been warm the day before we got there and there was a burn ban for the entire duration of our stay. It was in the 30s at night, and rained for an entire day and the burn ban wasn't lifted. One member of our group asked the ranger about the burn ban since it had rained so much and he said "a little water doesn't lift the burn ban." It was VERY cold and I would have booked for later but it's the only time I could get a group spot for the Summer, especially because of all the construction in August and Ohanepacosh being closed for the season, but to be placed in the first come first serve section anyway and having people constantly ask for our spot/just using it without asking us while we were freezing and wet just wasn't the week at Rainier we were hoping for. Try to stay here later if possible or just move into someone's spot and hope for the best.

Very cool campsite water toilet available. We booked the group camp plenty of space. Tons of wood from fallen trees no need to bring firewood. Must see: paradise skyline trail golden trail mrytle fall Christina fall snow lake reflection lake. Avoid Friday entrance a mile long we camped Tue to Fri will highly recommend avoid weekend

The campsite is quiet and clean, with enough space for at least 8 tents, and also it’s the perfect location to go star watch on skyline tail at night.

The group camp was wonderful. It was set off by itself. There were 3 or 4 tent sites that were flat. 5 cars could be parked there. Nice fire pit and lots of places to hang a hammock. Close to the paradise side of the mountain. Loved it and well worth the price.
