This is our favorite campground. Its beautiful and each campsite has plenty of room. Easy drive to many hiking and mountain biking trails. Close to Thomas and Davis for food and live music.

We love the Horseshoe campground. Each campsite has enough room so you aren't crowded with other campers. Campsite hosts are wonderful. Attentive to our needs. Regularly check the campground out for problems.Only negatives. Bathrooms continue to be a maintenance problem. We have camped there many years and there is always bathrooms closed or having issues. Two were closed this time for problems. One of the other ones had a flushing problem (had to hold flush button for about a minute before it worked). Also, we still would like to see showers at this campsite. We heard a few years ago they were being considered.

What a beautiful campground!!!! Nice to have flush toilets (we usually camp in campgrounds with vault toilets). Young adults from the YMCA camp down the road cleaned the bathrooms every day - they were super clean. We loved that there was a large open field and a beautiful babbling stream right next to the campground. At night we could see a million fireflies all going up the mountainside. Looked like something out of a movie. Mind you, we camped there the weekend of June 20 so not sure if that just happened to be when the fireflies were in abundance. There's several nice electric sites (we rented an RV so made use of one of these sites) and a separate "primitive" area for tents. We REALLY want to come back and camp in the tent area also. I'd highly recommend Horseshoe Recreation Area campground!
