The drive through the mountains to get to this campground was absolutely beautiful. We truly loved the serene splashes of water along the stream in earshot of our campsite. Upon our arrival, we completely forgot that there was no WiFi, but we didnt mind, in fact we enjoyed being disconnected to spend quality time together (in and out of the unexpected lightning and thunderstorms haha). We were greeted by the friendliest of camp hosts Kris Ann and Ashlee, they brought our firewood over to our site via wheelbarrow and dropped off our ice bag too. Kris Ann gave us print out directions to some of her highly recommended hiking spots and local restaurants, and we definitely got food baby comas after eating at The Grand Slam. Weve been tent camping for a good little bit, so we have a good amount of gear to help us get by without needing to frequent a local store. WARNING: If you need supplies of any kind, it would be a 60-90 round trip to reach a grocery store or dollar general. Also, we completely didnt remember this when we booked our trip, but there are no showers or water hookup sites, so if you are staying at this campground there is a swimming hole to dip into or i recommend bringing a portable camping shower. 1000% without a doubt this is a campground we are coming back to, and we hope we get to see Kris Ann and Ashlee again on our next trip!

We really liked this campground. You can tell the camp hosts spend a lot of time taking care of the property. For a Forest Service campground, it's almost too manicured. There are several hiking trails accessible from the campground and it's also a short drive to the trail head to Hoye Crest, the highest point in Maryland. It's close to the towns of Thomas and Davis which both have a lot going on.

While it did rain the whole four days we were there. We loved the layout of the camp ground. We could not believe how quiet it is there. We took our 3 year old grand daughter for a walk up stream an she absolutely loved it. I do wish they had a dump station I guess I need to read a little better when reserving. It did not impact our stay just wish they had one. All in all we will definitely be making a return trip.

Absolutely beautiful spot with wonderful camp host volunteers. Bathrooms were clean and the grounds well taken care of. The only negative thing that I might add and this is no reflection on the campground but coming from Oakland, route 9 was more like a one-way road instead of a two-way road. It was a much more pleasant experience and less white knuckle driving going the opposite way when we left the campground to St George.

We love it here! Water hookups or a shower house would make it even better!
