The campgrounds were clean and well maintained.

The only problem we had was a family that came in our second night and rode quads throughout the campsite each night and early mornings. We called rangers, but the area was not patrolled.

Stayed in A.H. Hogue. We arrived during the Pit River Tribe's annual time in the Medicine Campground. We had reservations in Hogue. It was quiet, pleasant and reverent. It wasn't until later when they closed Burney due to covid and all those displaced campers decided to come to Medicine Lake that it became loud, drunk and obnoxious. On Friday evening there was an evacuation due to the nearby fire. The rangers and sheriff dept did an orderly order of evacuation and we left. Most of the time it is pleasant there as the lake is not a powerboat/ski/waverunner type of lake. It's a fishing, kayak and canoe lake. If people respect that it can be an peaceful retreat.
