We invited family from Chicago to come down for a camping and floating trip. Round Spring was perfect for us. The campsites were very well maintained and nicely spread out. The nights were nice and cool and we could listen to the river during the quiet time in the evening. The only complaint came during the second night when a camper moved in just down the hill from us. They ran their generator all night long and we were disappointed because it wasn't quiet and the sounds of the river were no longer audible. Early in the morning we were able to glimpse a band of wild horses across the river coming down for a drink. There is a very nice tributary off of the Current and it's great for bird watching. I highly recommend Carr's Canoe Rental. They picked us up from our camp site in Round Spring and drove us to Akers Ferry to put in. Then we were pretty lazy on our rafts until we put out at Pulltite. It was really a great respite!

This was not our first time staying in the area, but it was our first time at Round Spring and we loved it and will definitely return! Very nice place to set up camp. We didn't float, but we saw the shuttle services throughout our stay and they seemed very friendly. The campsite we stayed at (024) was elevated ground which was wonderful. You can see in the pictures that there were designated stairways to the campsites. It did rain, but there were minimal puddles in the area and since our campsite was raised ground, we had no troubles at all!
Also:
- Camp hosts were very pleasant
- Bathrooms/showers were very clean
- Easy access to the river for swimming
- Pet friendly - our doggo had a great time!
- I have Cricket and I didn't have cell service, but this is a PLUS for me.

The bathrooms were clean and my family really appreciated that. The site was flat for our tent and mostly clear of trash. I make an attempt to pick up 6 items of trash before I leave a site and it was difficult to find 6 items. We used cots and didn't have to worry about roots or rocks, but I can imagine a thick pad would be needed if we didn't have cots. Our site was a bit close to the neighbor's as they kind of setup too close to us. I can't remember site numbers, but it seemed that most sites had a decent distance between them. There was one site that was small and couldn't imagine setting a family tent on. Check satellite views if you can.
We used the canoe outfitter down the road and across the bridge. They picked us up from our campsite and floated from Pulltite to round springs. It was nice to have a short walk to the camp site from the river exit. We went during the open season of night fishing and they use generators on their jet boats. Nothing can be done about the noise, but be aware if the site is close to the river.
