This is the worst Corps of Engineers campground overall that I have ever been to. The facility is mostly good, with concrete pads and full hookups, but it is horribly managed and does not feel safe. The only real issues with the physical facility are that the loop by the boat ramp has very little shade, and the bathrooms have no soap and are not kept very clean. However, the way the campground is managed is terrible. First off, there is no gatehouse or gate of any kind, which leads to several problems. There is a large community just outside the park, and people who are not campers or even there for day use drive through constantly. Some come to dump trash in the dumpsters, which means they are overflowing even when only a hand full of campers are there. I saw one couple dumping trash almost every day I was there (two weeks). Others come to use the restrooms, meaning you never know who might be in them showering. A couple of times I observed what appeared to be questionable rendezvouses at the bathhouse. One person came through several times and drove his pink truck past the No Motorized Vehicles sign down to the water and appeared to camp out there where there was no campsite. In addition, the day use people come through the campground to the day use area, meaning more traffic, and there are no speed bumps, so people drive 40 to 50 miles per hour through the campground ( the host said the COE refuses to install speed bumps). There are random cars coming through at 4 AM with music blaring. We did not feel safe not knowing who was wandering around the campground, and twice we were almost run down by speeders while walking our dog. I locked the RV every time I left it.On top of that, the host does not enforce the rules, and we never saw a ranger. People play music and shout that can be heard all over at midnight. Trash is everywhere, and the host doesnt pick it up. This could be a great campground, but right now if you arent a local you should stay away.

I didn't realize how far the campground was from I-55 when I made mt reservation. Once there, I had difficulty reading the site numbers. They were either worn away or covered with leaves. I had to stop at the camp host's RV to ask where my site was.
