Weve gone for several years now. Its a really lovely place if youre looking for some time away from others and to disconnect. We mostly go for the hiking and fishing. There a few trails and creeks nearby, and a LOT of options if youre willing to do a little exploring, most within an hours drive. It helps to have an app that tells you whats public and private as the whole area is kind of checkerboarded that way, and it can get confusing (although there are some signs). Youll see lots of wildlife in the area: antelope, chipmunks, owls, hawks, deer, elk, hummingbirds. Theyve done some updates the last couple years, and the new couch and electricity is appreciated. When they say no potable water, you can do dishes and shower with the water, but you need to bring your own drinking water. Its so isolated (about an hour from Douglas) that theres no phone service, but that suits us just fine. It also isnt like a regular rental, in that they expect you to fully clean it before you leave. Weve always thought it was a small trade off for the inexpensive rental price, and kind of take pride in getting to help maintain a historic building. It sleeps 6, but if you have a bigger group, theres a campground about a mile further down the road that could accommodate the more adventurous of your group. Its a great spot. Weve recommended it to so many people.

Well maintained and clean cabin. Updated kitchen appliances worked great. Overall very enjoyable stay.

Our stay at the La Prele 07/01/2023 thru 07/05/2023 was very relaxing, very off the grid. Don't expect any cell phone service which was fine for us. Very pleased with the cabin.

Nearby creeks and trails are fun. The cabin was ok except it needs a thorough cleaning.

Actually due to a mixup on dates, our fault, we did not go. But this would have been the 5th or the 6th time to rent the facility and we love it.
