Newton, MA, just outside of Boston, is an ideal spot for campers looking to explore Massachusetts’ diverse landscapes. To the west, Harold Parker State Forest offers forested campsites with hiking and fishing opportunities. For a coastal experience, Cape Cod National Seashore provides breathtaking oceanfront camping with scenic dunes and hiking trails. Further north, the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire offers more rugged camping options with mountain vistas, waterfalls, and challenging hiking trails. Newton’s location allows campers to enjoy everything from wooded retreats to seaside getaways and mountain adventures.

Barnes Field Campground is located in the Androscoggin Ranger District, White Mountain National Forest (1 hr 38 min west of Lewiston, ME) with an elevation of 1,286 feet. There are a total of 11 campsites including 4 tent-only sites. The campground is open all year. 7 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 40 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Prices start at $45.00 per night. Activities include hiking trails.
