Cambridge, MA, located just across the Charles River from Boston, is surrounded by an array of camping opportunities, both near the city and further into Massachusetts’ natural beauty. Just to the west, the Minute Man National Historical Park provides a range of camping experiences along with scenic trails and historical sites to explore. A short drive to the north, the Middlesex Fells Reservation offers peaceful wooded campsites and access to hiking and biking trails. For a more remote experience, the Berkshire Mountains offer several camping options, including the popular Mount Greylock State Reservation, where visitors can enjoy hiking, fishing, and stunning mountain views. Barnes Field Campground is located in the Androscoggin Ranger District, White Mountain National Forest (1 hr 38 min west of Lewiston, ME) with an elevation of 1,286 feet. There are a total of 11 campsites including 4 tent-only sites. The campground is open all year. 7 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 40 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Prices start at $45.00 per night. Activities include hiking trails.

Blackwoods Campground is part of Acadia National Park in Maine (1 hr 25 min southeast of Bangor, ME) with an elevation of 227 feet. There are a total of 281 campsites including 221 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of May to mid October. 60 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 20 and 35 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Fees range from $30.00 to $60.00. Some amenities include dump station, amphitheater, flush toilets. Activities include hiking trails.
