They don't explicitly mention this so one makes assumptions. Fact is all RV campers need to know that there is no dump station at all at the campground. The only dump station in the park is at the Mammoth Cave campground near the visitor center (nearly an hour's drive). Also there's a ferry to get to the NPS visitor center under normal conditions (of course not with an RV) but this was flooded out during our planned stay, and we were not aware prior to arrival.

Great site but the ferry being closed makes for quite a drive to the caves.

We have stayed at this site multiple times and this was by far the worst experience weve ever had there. The grass was not cut and there was an increased number of spiders and ticks, so much so that even the baby that was never near the ground had a tick that had attached itself to her. These are things weve never dealt with before at this campground. People complained in the comments of the unevenness of the site, lack of reception, and that the drives are oriented in the wrong direction for the flow of traffic. These things are correct for site 4. There is very limited cell reception, but Im not sure what people want the point is to be in nature. There are a few spots level enough for small tents and we have always managed to find a semi decent spot for our massive 12-person, two room plus screen room tent. The first time we stayed there, the bathrooms were apparently nasty, I didnt go inside but a party with our group did. We have our own toilets so that is not a problem for us. The first time we stayed, other campers came onto our site and stole our property. This time was far worse than that. I had seen comments of people complaining of the high grass and I understand the lack of consistent empty days to mow all 8 spots, but the height of the grass was so utterly ridiculous that it attracted many more bugs and, I just found out as I was reviewing this, I thought it was amazing that we didnt see any snakes, but guess again. I found out 2 weeks later that they did see snakes on our site! I dont do snakes, so no one told me. There were quite a few obstructions on the drive up that we never experienced before and the ferry still being down makes all the attractions at least a 35+ minute drive. We ended up packing up a day early and leaving (not just for the snakes, we were over it)! I doubt we will go back!!!

Quiet, big site, bathrooms are clean. Lots of Spiders and Ticks, prepare accordingly.

Maple Springs has very large campsites, which is a nice bonus. But what they don't tell you is that campsite #4 is on a steep hill which means if you are in a tent there are not many places to put a tent easily. What was not pleasant about Maple Springs were the outhouses. There were 4 outhouses and each one was just as bad as the next one. They were so dirty that a person would be thinking that they were going to be getting a disease from using them. There was fecal matter all over the tube going down to the pit. The stench was so bad that while you were 20 yards away, on the road, you could smell it. The doors did not lock on two of them by the way that they designed the openings for the locks. And one of them had a snake in it. We were there for two days and no one came to clean or inspect the campground or the outhouses. Really they looked and smelled like they have not been cleaned in a very long time.

The trailer sites are angled the wrong way. You need to enter the campground through the entrance with the sign do not enter. While pulling out of the campground to back up on the main road (hoping no traffic would come), I cut the turn too sharp and my wheels went into the ditch and hit the stone culvert. Had to get a welder to come out and repair my trailer.

We stayed in the Maple Springs campground. They recently paved so sights are level. Very remote and secluded. Only a a few other sites at location, so very peaceful. Beautiful hiking and biking trail right at entrance. Be aware, if driving RV need to go around park (adds 45 minutes) to get to visitor center and dump station. If have car, can take ferry which only takes about 20 minutes. Did not bother us-but just be sure to plan accordingly. Great location and cave tour was amazing! Highly recommend.

The site itself was nice. We had multiple tents and this site wasn't the most level. Also, we arrived at 7pm and the ferry closed at 6pm. Not a nice surprise. We had to drive over an hour around in the dark. We made the best out of a not enjoyable situation.

We enjoyed our experience at this campground. Although a group campground, we didn’t hear anything from the other campers and enjoyed the ‘off the grid’ setup.

Camping experience was fine but not up to par with what we usually experience for $50 per night. Although minor because traffic is non existent, sight #4 is angled the wrong way for an rv or camper to back in. No problem, I just turned around on the main road and went the wrong way on the camping loop to back in as every other campground in the nation angles their camp sites. Second issue was our water faucet was buried 18" too shallow and seemingly wasn't frost proof anyways because most mornings it was froze up. Not a huge issue because it would thaw out an hour or two after sunrise and we weren't hooked directly to water anyways. These faucets probably aren't a good choice for the campground as a few sites from us a faucet was leaking all day and we couldn't get it to stop. This group camping/equestrian loop has water and electric. If I'm not mistaken, the main campground by the visitor center only has water.
Otherwise, quiet spot during thanksgiving and great mountain biking, hiking. If you want to do a cave tour book early, it's worth it.

The area was very nice but not having a dump station near by without having to travel the 50 minutes back to the other side of the park due to not being able to cross the ferry in the RV was the only down side. Otherwise the area was well maintained. Also, you have to enter the side of the camping area marked “do not enter” otherwise you wouldn’t be able to back into the site.

Though on recreation.gov reservation website stated no water or electric hook up for group site 4 was pleasantly surprised to have water & electric hook up! Setting is beautiful!!
