The campground is great! clean pit toilets and nice quite campsite. The only issue is. We specifically reserved site 13. When we arrived to the campground site 13 was marked as OPEN. It would have really sucked to drive all that way over during a holiday to find out the campground was 1. Sold out or 2. The site specific spot we paid for was already taken by a first come first serve person. Please manage this better!

Entire campsite overgrown with poison oak and unusable state. REFUND please!

Although the website states that trailers under 20 feet are allowed, it is completely unsafe and should be avoided!!! The road into the site (14 miles) is a very narrow, at times unpaved mountain road. It was harrowing getting in and getting out. When we got to the campground, there was local (road) work being done and the sounds of the constant jackhammer was super annoying, especially when some people we chatted with said it was going to continue over the weekend. There was nothing on the website about this either, which I think is irresponsible. We decided not to stay. Won’t go back.

Typical Feb trip, had nice sunny days but cold at night and high winds on the Saturday dropped it a few more degrees. Camp site 13 is set back off the road down a narrow drive of about 10 yds. Large tall Sycamores' surround the site bordered on the south west by the creek (not the Davey Brown creek). The high winds had me somewhat worried that a few of the large dead branches above might come crashing down on us, trees prevailed. The table was a little dirty and required a good rinse before use, a rake would have been useful to clear back the substantle dead tree leaves from the fire ring perimeter. This site has a good separation from the other surrounding camp sites, there is a fairly wet/marshy area that runs just north of the site that might serve as a heavy breeding ground for mosquitos come warmer temps. Did a hike up the Davey brown trail accessed off the NW end of the camp ground, not visibly marked. Saw some fingerling fish in the Davey Brown creek below the road none above. I Wass told by another camper that they no longer stock this stream with farm fish in the spring. Would definitely use this site again.

This was a really nice, small campground for dry camping. It was a wonderful place to unplug and get a break from the pandemic and normal life. The campground is designed along a single road that follows the creek. Our friends had Site 11 and it was spacious. The road circles around 11, so we were really close to them being at 13. (Site 12 was also on the outside of the circle.) Our site 13 was beautiful ... right next to the creek and was surrounded by trees, blackberry bushes, and probably poison oak. The poison oak leaves were off the branches, so that probably saved our kids (6 and under) from getting their first poison oak encounter. There's also an outhouse next to 11, which looked like the floors had been mopped and was fully stocked with TP. My brother- and sister-in-law had site 5 and that was on the creek side of the road by the entrance. It worked well for their larger than average tent.

We took the kids on two hikes. The first was the Davy Brown trail, and then the second was down the road a bit. It had a parking lot and is used a lot by backpackers. There's a picnic area about a mile or so in that made a good stopping spot for us.

Going in February was a nice time to avoid the bugs and poison oak. I would highly recommend!
